Great! Worth the visit. We just wanted to look at Bramantes Tempietto but also got a guide through the art collection of the Spanish art academy too for free! Beautiful place, nice people.

MUST see the tempietto if you’re on this side of the river. Walk up the hill past the church for a beautiful view of the city (by the fountain).

It's inside the Spanish Embassy complex. Constructed by the rule of Catholic Kings. Template made by Bramante and scenario of famous flilms. The church is free acces but the Templete not.

Exquisite church with some great works of art and Bramante's Tempietto in the cloister.

Beautiful area. Very different from being in the main parts of Rome and Vatican City.

Fantastic place with great views. The museum section only has interpretation in Italian and Spanish though.

Quite possibly my favorite spot in Rome. The Church is home to the Tempietto, a small commemorative martyrium built by Donato Bramante. The area around the Tempietto is a quiet, isolated area where you can typically find artists/students drawing. It’s a peaceful place and great for getting away from the crowds of Rome. It is out of the way and quite a hill to climb. But the renovation to the museum around it is nice and makes the space handicap accessible. The major critique is the hours the area is open. So make double sure it’s open when you’re on your way.

? Small but powerful and eternal. This is how the Temple of San Pietro in Montorio appears, the Roma jewel of Donato Bramante. ⏳ The architect built in between 1502 and 1509 on behalf of the royals of Spain inside the courtyard of the homonymous convent on the Janiculum hill. ? The point chosen is not just any place but the one where, according to legend, St. peter would have been martyred, crucified upside down (hence the scene also depicted in the altar of the temple) ? The number of columns, equal to 16, which is taken from the teaching of Vitruvius who considered that number as bearer of perfection. β›© My impression? This temple was not only a Renaissance ambition, but an eternal need of the spirit because of its perfect form. Bramante managed to create a classic more classic than the classics, that's what I thought.
