Qua è interessante guardare gli strumenti musicali che sono nelle mura decorate con colori tipici del barocco del val di Noto. È retta da un sacerdote ultraottantenne molto bravo e colto??? It is a very beautiful church in the heart of the city of Scicli, located in via Mormino Penna, which is the richest street in Baroque palaces and two other important churches. The interior is very beautiful with the two wonderful access doors and the one on the oblique side. Beautiful musical instruments hanging on the sides of the nave.

Non è molto ampia, ma è ricca di splendide decorazioni, oltra a conservare pregevoli quadri. Nel pomeriggio, davanti alla facciata vengono posti i tavolini di un ristorante, che penalizzano, a mio parere, la vista della Chiesa. Vi consiglio di parcheggiare la macchina e passeggiare in lungo e in largo per la città. In Scicli there are as many Baroque churches as there are inhabitants. Joke! A	Alessio Guiggi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pare impossibile che una chiesa così bella, tra le più antiche di Scicli anche se totalmente ricostruita - come quasi tutto del resto - dopo il terremoto del 1693, possa essere chiusa...o quantomeno essere aperta ad orari casuali e non programmati. Ma tant'è...pare impossibile ma è così...io - in un giorno e mezzo di permanenza a Scicli a febbraio - non l'ho mai trovata aperta. Ho potuto soltanto ammirarne l'esterno, comunque pregevole, anche se più per l'effetto scenico nel contesto urbano che architettonico in senso proprio. Questa chiesa venne realizzata a metà del Settecento e progettata affinchè, in coppia con la chiesa di Santa Teresa, potessero formare una suggestiva quinta scenografica, avanzata la prima ed una arretrata la seconda. L'effetto teatrale è molto interessante. Realizzata nel tipico stile del barocco siciliano, presenta una facciata leggermente convessa nella parte centrale e fiancheggiata da colonne corinzie che indirizzano lo sguardo verso l'alto. In asse con il bel portale vi è un finestrone decorato con motivi floreali e chiuso da una gelosia in ferro battuto. Chiude la piramide un'elegante cella campanaria. Spero vivamente che possa essere gestita in una maniera più appropriata. It seems impossible that such a beautiful church, one of the oldest in Scicli, even if totally rebuilt - like almost everything else - after the earthquake of 1693, could be closed ... or at least be open at random and unscheduled times. But anyhow ... it seems impossible but that's how it is ... I - in a day and a half of stay in Scicli in February - never found it open. I was only able to admire the exterior, however valuable, even if more for the scenic effect in the urban context than for architecture in the proper sense. This church was built in the mid-eighteenth century and designed so that, paired with the church of Santa Teresa, they could form a suggestive scenographic backdrop, the first advanced and the second backward. The theatrical effect is very interesting. Made in the typical Sicilian Baroque style, it has a slightly convex façade in the central part and flanked by Corinthian columns that direct the gaze upwards. In line with the beautiful portal there is a large window decorated with floral motifs and closed by a wrought iron jalousie. An elegant belfry closes the pyramid. I sincerely hope that it can be handled in a more appropriate way.
