S	Stefano Trainiti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il tempio risale ai primi anni del XV secolo, le strutture resistettero in larga parte al catastrofico terremoto del Val di Noto del 1693. L'imponente e scenografico prospetto, progettato dall'architetto siracusano Salvatore Alì in stile barocco-neoclassico tradisce già un sostanziale cambiamento di gusto nella cultura ufficiale, un netto passaggio dalla pomposa e gonfia plasticità tardobarocca a una più chiara e razionale classicità. The temple dates back to the early fifteenth century, the structures largely resisted the catastrophic earthquake of the Val di Noto in 1693. The imposing and scenographic façade, designed by the Syracusan architect Salvatore Alì in Baroque-Neoclassical style, already betrays a substantial change of taste in the official culture, a clear passage from the pompous and swollen late Baroque plasticity to a clearer and more rational classicism.

Gli affreschi e le decorazioni sono stupefacenti realizzati con perizia, eleganza e raffinatezza. The church is Baroque in style, this place is fantastic and it is very spiritual. Art and spirituality merge and become one. The frescoes and decorations are amazing made with skill, elegance and refinement.

E' poi incastonata esattamente al centro della "cava" tra i colli di San Matteo e della Croce, il che la rende uno spettacolo nello spettacolo. Purtroppo l'ho trovata sempre chiusa, ragion per cui l'ho potuta ammirare solo esternamente. Riedificata nel Settecento dopo il devastante terremoto del 1693, si presenta con un'elegante ed imponente facciata d'impronta decisamente barocca, a partire dalla forma piramidale, ma impreziosita da dettagli classici perfettamente leggibili nell'abbondanza delle colonne, nelle importanti trabeazioni marcapiano e nell'esclusiva cupola messa a coronamento della cella campanaria. Di notte, poi, è un incanto mozzafiato. It is the most beautiful church in Scicli, a very special precious jewel because it was designed with a mix of Baroque and neoclassical art. It is then set exactly in the center of the "quarry" between the hills of San Matteo and the Cross, which makes it a spectacle within a spectacle. Unfortunately I always found it closed, which is why I was able to admire it only from the outside. Rebuilt in the eighteenth century after the devastating earthquake of 1693, it has an elegant and imposing facade with a decidedly Baroque imprint, starting from the pyramidal shape, but embellished with classic details perfectly legible in the abundance of columns, in the important string course entablatures and in the exclusive dome crowning the belfry. At night, then, it is a breathtaking enchantment.
