G	Gianluca Pica on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una piccola chiesetta ricca di storia, in quanto la Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Fonte, costruita la prima volta nel IV secolo, sarebbe stata eretta sopra la casa di Ippolito, un centurione romano qui convertito da Lorenzo, il quale avrebbe fatto sgorgare miracolosamente dell'acqua per battezzarlo. All'entrata vi è una bellissima idea per i visitatori, due cestini uno in italiano e uno in inglese con su scritto: la parola di Dio. Dove all'interno vi sono dei foglietti arrotolati con frasi tratte dalle sacre scritture. Bisogna andarci per ricevere una frase su cui meditare. La frase che ho preso è la seguente:, la mia bocca è ripiena della tua fede, e proclama la tua gloria tutto il giorno (salmi 71, 8), The church is a jewel of Baroque art. L’edificio primitivo sarebbe stato edificato nel IX secolo e poi subì diversi interventi e ricostruzioni nel corso dei secoli, fino al XVII. Il nome le deriva poiché fu costruita vicino alla casa del centurione Ippolito, nella quale il Santo fu tenuto prigioniero, Il essa Lorenzo battezzò Ippolito, anch’esso poi martire, e nel luogo scaturì anche una sorgente. Sulla destra si erge un piccolo campanile a vela. La Facciata in travertino, si presenta su due ordini e ripartita mediante lesene con capitello. Al primo ordine, leggermente bugnato, si trova al centro un monumentale portale ligneo a cassettoni, incorniciato e architravato, con frontone curvilineo. Al secondo ordine nella parte centrale spicca una croce rossa e ai lati due nicchie con arco a tutto sesto, dove sono dipinti i due santi. Sull’architrave è posta la titolazione: S.S. LAVRENTIO ET IPPOLYTO MARTIRIBVS Il tutto sovrastato da un frontone triangolare. Come fastigio è presente una croce metallica. L’attuale interno (XVII secolo) ha una pianta con navata unica e tre cappelle per lato. La Pala dell’altare centrale raffigura San Lorenzo mentre battezza Ippolito e la sua famiglia. La volta si presenta a crociera, nell’ellisse del centro è rifigurata la colomba dello Spirito Santo, in un tripudio di angeli. Sotto la Chiesa sono presenti dei locali dove è ancora presente il pozzo dell’antica fonte “miracolosa”. The Church of San Lorenzo in Fonte is located in Rione I (Monti), in via Urbana in Rome. The primitive building was built in the ninth century and then underwent several interventions and reconstructions over the centuries, up to the seventeenth. The current interior (17th century) has a floor plan with a single nave and three chapels on each side. The central altarpiece depicts San Lorenzo baptizing Ippolito and his family. The vault has a cross vault, in the central ellipse the dove of the Holy Spirit is re-figured, in a riot of angels. Under the church there are rooms where the well of the ancient "miraculous" source is still present.

L	Luke Matarazzo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice, simple little church tucked away in the Monti neighborhood. A decent spot to stop in. Not a soul in there when I went. Not something to go out of your way for, but a nice stop if you're getting gelato at the nearby Fatamorgana location.
