V	Vale on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Penso la chiesa più suggestiva del ramo di Como. Purtroppo l'ho trovata sempre chiusa... ma la piazzetta e la vista sull'Isola Comacina sono impagabili. I think the most evocative church in the Como branch. Unfortunately I found it always closed ... but the little square and the view of the Comacina Island are priceless.
F	Francesco Soletti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Al margine meridionale dell'abitato di Spurano si trova la chiesa di San Giacomo, che s'innalza dalla sponda rocciosa in adiacenza a un minuscolo porticciolo: l'edificio, una semplice aula absidata, venne eretto nel XII secolo lungo la Via Regina e ampliato nel XIV, quando le fu aggiunto anche il caratteristico campanile a vela, in origine a fornice unico. All'interno, notevoli affreschi risalenti per lo più alla fondazione della chiesa, tra i quali spicca un grande San Cristoforo, patrono dei pellegrini, con evidente riferimento ai transiti sulla Via Regina. At the southern edge of the town of Spurano is the church of San Giacomo, which rises from the rocky shore adjacent to a tiny port: the building, a simple apsidal hall, was erected in the 12th century along the Via Regina and enlarged in the fourteenth, when the characteristic bell gable was added, originally with a single archway. Inside, there are remarkable frescoes dating back mostly to the foundation of the church, among which a great St. Christopher, patron saint of pilgrims, stands out, with evident reference to the transits on the Via Regina. Costruita lungo l’antica Via Regina a fine secolo XI e XII, con il più tardo campanile a vela realizzato in due tempi. In muratura di pietra di Moltrasio disposti a filari regolari, a vista all’esterno e intonacata internamente con affreschi fra i più antichi della zona, databili : i primi al XII e gli ultimi al XV secolo. La chiesa fu restaurata dall’architetto Pietro Lingeri. Lo scorso anno la " Associazione Rive Lariane " ha donato la suggestiva illuminazione notturna. Church of S. Built along the ancient Via Regina at the end of the 11th and 12th centuries, with the later bell tower built in two stages. In Moltrasio stone masonry arranged in regular rows, exposed on the outside and plastered internally with some of the oldest frescoes in the area, datable: the first to the twelfth and the last to the fifteenth century. The church was restored by the architect Pietro Lingeri. Last year the "Associazione Rive Lariane" donated the suggestive night lighting.
