★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa dedicata a San Francesco d'Assisi risalente alla fine del XVI secolo.
Ancora visibile all'interno si trova l'altare in marmo di carrara tardo cinquecentesco.
Secondo la tradizione, la mattina del 19 marzo del 1606, in questo edificio al cospetto di Ferdinando I de' Medici, venne celebrata una messa al termine della quale Livorno fu elevata al rango di città.
Lateralmente a sinistra ci sono alcuni resti che possono ricondurre ad un fronte battesimale.
Alla fine del XVII sec. fu aggiunto alla struttura della chiesa esistente, ricavandolo da una porzione del cortile un piccolo locale con copertura a cupola, al fine di ospitare un ulteriore cappella. Qui si trova conservato un piccolo altare a mensa, che ci rimanda all'eleganza barocca in uso della toscana dell'epoca.
Nel 1713 Giovanni Maria del Fantasia, su ordine del Granduca Cosimo III, allungò ulteriormente la chiesa, recuperando alcuni locali adibiti a rifugio del Castellano.
L'edificio fu quasi completamente distrutto durante la seconda guerra mondiale, la facciata fu ricostruita ex-novo in fase di restauro.

According to tradition, on the morning of March 19, 1606, in this building in the presence of Ferdinand I de 'Medici, a Mass was celebrated at the end of which Livorno was elevated to town status.
On the left side there are some remains that can be traced back to a baptismal front.
At the end of the seventeenth century. a small room with a domed roof was added to the existing church structure, obtaining it from a portion of the courtyard, in order to house a further chapel. Here there is a small altar in the canteen, which refers us to the baroque elegance in use of the Tuscan of the time.
In 1713 Giovanni Maria del Fantasia, by order of the Grand Duke Cosimo III, further extended the church, recovering some rooms used as a refuge for the Castellano.
The building was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, the facade was rebuilt from scratch during restoration.
