★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La presenza di Marmoriolo ("fundo cum Castro et cappella") è segnalata in documenti dell’anno 976 quale possedimento dei marchesi Canossa. Il termine si modifica nell’XI secolo in Marmirolum, Marmoriolo, Marmerolo e quindi costantemente Marmoreolum dal latino Marmor-Oris che attesta la presenza di un piccolo palazzo di marmo.
In epoca gonzaghesca rinascimentale, i documenti attestano invece la presenza di un palazzo, tanto artisticamente raffinato da risultare "il più vago e jocondo" esistente sotto il sole.
Il patrono della parrocchia, intesa come comunità, è S. Sebastiano che gode di una cappella specifica vicino all'altar maggiore. I Santi titolari della chiesa, intesa come sacro edificio parrocchiale, sono invece Filippo e Giacomo, già dall'anno 1279
 The presence of Marmoriolo ("fundo cum Castro et cappella") is reported in documents from the year 976 as a possession of the Canossa marquises. The term was modified in the XI century in Marmirolum, Marmoriolo, Marmerolo and therefore constantly Marmoreolum from the Latin Marmor-Oris which attests the presence of a small marble palace.
In the Renaissance Gonzaga era, the documents attest instead the presence of a palace, so artistically refined as to be "the most vague and jocondo" existing under the sun.
The patron saint of the parish, understood as a community, is St. Sebastian who enjoys a specific chapel near the high altar. The titular saints of the church, intended as a sacred parish building, are instead Filippo and Giacomo, already from the year 1279
