β β β β β La chiesa rettorale di Montelabbate, lungo i secoli, mutΓ² denominazione e sito: costruita fin dal secolo XII all'interno del castello e consacrata dal Vescovo Enrico nel 1206, era intitolata a S. Quirico, ma dalla lettera di Papa Innocenzo III al Vescovo di Pesaro risulta che nel 1213 esisteva in Montelabbate anche la chiesa intitolata a S. Martino Vescovo. Nei sinodi antichi e nel "codice" del 1303 custodito nell'Archivio Capitolare, nonchΓ© nelle Rationes Decimarum del 1290-92, il parroco viene nominato col titolo di "Rettore di San Quirico" mentre, nella visita apostolica del 1574, la sede parrocchiale Γ¨ intitolata a S. Martino Vescovo (con la dizione di S. Quirico) ed Γ¨ ancora nel castello "in oppido Montis Abbatis"; ma, nello stesso documento, compaiono due chiese semplici: quella dei "Santi Giulitta e Quirico fuori cittΓ " di cui si dice che fu l'antica parrocchia, lasciata per motivi di sicurezza, ma ancora decorosa e saltuariamente officiata, e quella di S. Andrea in Foglia, giΓ diroccata. Nel 1730, la sede parrocchiale fu traslocata al cosiddetto "mercato" o borgo, sotto il titolo, ormai consolidato, dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta; cosΓ¬ fu poi sempre denominata, pur restando attiva la chiesa di S. Quirico (ex S. Martino) nel castello. Non si Γ¨ potuto conoscere da chi, nΓ© in quale tempo, sia stata fondata la chiesa parrocchiale, essendo andato perduto l'archivio antico al tempo della demolizione della vecchia chiesa di S. Martino nel castello. La rettorale dei Santi Quirico e Giulitta, ora sita nel borgo, non ha parrocchie sotto di sΓ©.
The rectoral church of Montelabbate, along the centuries, changed its name and site: built since the XIIth century inside the castle and consecrated by Bishop Henry in 1206, it was dedicated to S. Quirico, but from the letter of Pope Innocent III to the Bishop of Pesaro shows that in 1213 there was also the church dedicated to S. Martino Vescovo in Montelabbate. In the ancient synods and in the "code" of 1303 kept in the Chapter Archive, as well as in the Rationes Decimarum of 1290-92, the parish priest was named with the title of "Rector of San Quirico" while, in the apostolic visit of 1574, the parish seat was entitled to S. Martino Vescovo (with the diction of S. Quirico) and is still in the castle "in oppido Montis Abbatis"; but, in the same document, two simple churches appear: that of the "Saints Giulitta and Quirico out of town" of which it is said that it was the ancient parish, left for security reasons, but still decent and occasionally officiated, and that of St. Andrea in Foglia, already in ruins. In 1730, the parish seat was moved to the so-called "market" or village, under the by now consolidated title of the Santi Quirico and Giulitta; so it was then always called, although the church of S. Quirico (ex S. Martino) in the castle remained active. It was not possible to know from whom, or at what time, the parish church was founded, having lost the ancient archive at the time of the demolition of the old church of S. Martino in the castle. The Rector of the Saints Quirico and Giulitta, now located in the village, has no parishes below it.
