D	Daniele Pajarin on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il portale è la cosa che più mi è piaciuta di tutta la chiesa,(il barocco non mi ha mai entusiasmato).In particolare qui vi è anche la mancanza di spazi esterni ,che contribuisce a mortificare tutta la costruzione. The portal is the thing I liked most about the whole church, (the Baroque has never impressed me). La chiesa ha inoltre un imponente organo, sia ai due lati dell'altare che sopra l'ingresso. La facciata é in stile novecentesco, con linee rigide e nette. L'interno é ad unica navata, a pianta a croce latina, in stile neoclassico. Le caratteristiche che rendono molto bella la cattedrale sono: -Il portone, tutto scolpito; - la cupola emisferica; - opere di Valeri. Ingresso: gratuito. The Cathedral of San Settimio is located adjacent to the main square of Jesi. The structure dates back to the XII century. The facade is in the twentieth century style, with rigid and clean lines. The interior has a single nave, with a Latin cross plan, in a neoclassical style. Io sono arrivata da Porta Valle, per cui dopo una bella salita costituita di vicoli, mi sono itrovata in questa ampia piazza su cui alla propria destra erge la Cattedrale. Colpisce subito il portone d'entrata magnificamente lavorato. Colpiscono le cappelle laterali, l'altare, il crocifisso, le scritte in latino. Soprattutto, però, mi hanno colpita le spoglie di San Floriano. Sembra un ragazzino addormentato. É una basilica risistemata nel Settecento, su quella originale del 7-8 secolo. Tutte le norme di sicurezza anti-covid19 sono rispettate. Da vedere assolutamente!! In the main square of Jesi stands the beautiful Cathedral of San Settimio. I arrived from Porta Valle, so after a nice climb made up of alleys, I found myself in this large square on which the Cathedral stands on its right. The magnificently worked entrance door is immediately striking. The side chapels, the altar, the crucifix and the Latin writings are striking. Above all, however, I was struck by the remains of San Floriano. He looks like a sleeping kid. It is a basilica rearranged in the eighteenth century, on the original one of the 7-8 century. All anti-covid19 safety regulations are respected. A must see !!
S	Stefano Irish on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cattedrale di San Settimio Dedicata a San Settimio (IV sec.), primo vescovo della chiesa jesina, la Cattedrale fu costruita tra il XIII e il XIV secolo ad opera di Giorgio da Como, probabilmente sulle fondamenta di un tempio romano dell’area dell’antico foro, per poi essere abbattuta per volontà del vescovo Fonseca . Pertanto essa fu riedificata tra il 1732 e il 1741 su progetto dell'architetto romano Filippo Barigioni. L'immagine dell'antica cattedrale medievale è riportata su uno stendardo dipinto da Luigi Mancini (XIX), oggi conservato al Museo Diocesano. Infatti della vecchia costruzione rimangono solo, all'interno, i due leoni-acquasantiere già facenti parte del portale della chiesa. Il campanile è opera del locale Francesco Matellicani, che lo eresse nel 1782-84 ispirandosi a quello vanvitelliano del santuario di Loreto. La facciata, progettata nel 1889 dal romano Gaetano Morichini e caratterizzata da una serliana, è stata aggiunta nel 1889, mentre la volta interna fu in parte dipinta da Luigi Mancini che rappresentò un episodio della Vita di S. Settimio. Therefore it was rebuilt between 1732 and 1741 on a project by the Roman architect Filippo Barigioni. The image of the ancient medieval cathedral is shown on a banner painted by Luigi Mancini (XIX), now preserved in the Diocesan Museum. In fact, of the old building only the two lions-holy water fonts that are already part of the portal of the church remain inside. The bell tower is the work of the local Francesco Matellicani, who erected it in 1782-84 inspired by the Vanvitellian one of the sanctuary of Loreto.
