★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La storia della chiesa è strettamente legata a quella dell'attiguo monastero fondato dall'ordine delle Francescane presumibilmente nel sec. XIII.
Durante i lavori di restauro del 2004, asportando le marmette in cemento degli anni '60, sono emersi elementi interessanti dal punto di vista storico:
nella zona absidale sono emerse le mura trecentesche del convento, abbattute nel 1928-1930;
in prossimità del transetto è stata rinvenuta la parte basamentale di un portico, composto da pavimentazione in pietra e basi di pilastri quadrati che precedono l'ingresso laterale del convento;
una camera a base squadrata e a volta a cupola che doveva essere adibita a camera sepolcrale del convento.
La scoperta più interessante è il ritrovamento di alcune cisterne a campana con imbocco giacente su terreno vegetale. L'imbocco si trova a un metro e mezzo di quota dal livello stradale ed arriva a raggiungere i nove metri.

During the restoration work in 2004, removing the cement tiles of the 1960s, interesting elements emerged from a historical point of view:
in the apse area the fourteenth-century walls of the convent emerged, demolished in 1928-1930;
near the transept the base part of a portico was found, composed of stone paving and bases of square pillars that precede the side entrance of the convent;
a room with a square base and a domed vault that was to be used as a sepulchral chamber for the convent.
The most interesting discovery is the discovery of some bell cisterns with a mouth lying on vegetable soil. The entrance is located one meter and a half from the street level and reaches nine meters.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa tardo romanica con bellissimi affreschi ed eleganti decorazioni seicentesche. Sotto il livello di calpestio della chiesa sono visitabili i resti dell'antico convento di cui faceva parte (visita gradevole e ben curata).
Late Romanesque church with beautiful frescoes and elegant seventeenth-century decorations. Below the trampling level of the church the remains of the ancient convent to which it belonged can be visited (pleasant and well-maintained visit).

Per i turisti e per tutti quelli che visitano il centro storico la consiglio come tappa intermedia o finale dato che visitandola assieme al chiostro si associa un momento culturale e di preghiera/meditazione a un momento di relax.
Beautiful Gothic-style church located in the historic center of the city. For tourists and for all those who visit the historic center, I recommend it as an intermediate or final stop, since visiting it together with the cloister is associated with a cultural moment of prayer / meditation for a moment of relaxation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un piccolo gioiello della Città di Trani, che bisogna assolutamente visitare se ci si trova in zona. La chiesa al suo interno è ricca di affreschi, ma ciò che vi sorprenderà saranno il sepolcreto delle benedettine, i pozzi e la cisterna medievale, che vi faranno fare un tuffo nel passato della comunità. I suoi sotterranei sono unici. Buona visita.
A little gem of the city of Trani, which you absolutely must visit if you are in the area. The church inside is rich in frescoes, but what will surprise you will be the Benedictine burial ground, the wells and the medieval cistern, which will make you take a dip in the past of the community. Its dungeons are unique. Enjoy your visit.
