G	Giuseppe Giardina on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Splendida , finalmente in tutto il suo splendore dopo anni e anni di restauro.Peccato per l'antico campanile sostituito con l'attuale,che seppur un,compromesso più che dignitoso, non si avvicina a quello che ero abituato a vedere fin da piccolo.Andrebbe illuminata la sera : inaccettabile che chiese minori spicchino al buio, mentre la prima chiesa del paese rimane oscurata...Tappa obbligatoria per chi ha voglia di respirare ,storia arte e cultura ....visitatela Splendid, finally in all its splendor after years and years of restoration. Too bad for the ancient bell tower replaced with the current one, which although a more than decent compromise, does not come close to what I used to see since I was a child. Si troverà tra tutte le opere anche il crocifisso miracoloso del Padre della Provvidenza, venerato dai nicosiani per il Venerdì Santo e ogni quarta domenica di quaresima. Da visitare! G	GIOVANNI MOLE' on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nel cuore di Nicosia si vede l'imponente e bellissima torre campanaria e prospiciente la piazza il bel porticato della Cattedrale di San Nicola. All'interno spicca il bellissimo crocifisso ligneo. La piazza posta lateralmente è ricca di palazzi storici tra cui spicca il Comune con il suo bellissimo atrio, l'enorme lampadario in ferro battuto, la sala consiliare e le balconate. La struttura si sviluppa in tre piani raggiungibili con intrecci di scale. È stato bello visitare il paese in occasione della Sagra del Nocattolo, tipico dolce fatto con pasta sfoglia e sopra una crema di mandorle e cannella. La sorpresa più carina è stata la gentilezza della gente del posto e la possibilità di assaggiare i prodotti locali nei vari stand con l'acquisto di vaucer con €5 che comprende antipasti: 4 tipi di affettati locali, 4 tipi di formaggi tutto squisito; poi un bicchiere di vino/birra semedorato buonissima; assaggi di paté di peperoncino e di marmellate; bucatini al sugo con carne e funghi squisiti e acqua e infine il Nocattolo in piazza. E nello stesso tempo poter visitare il centro storico con la chiesa di San Calogero con il suo soffitto ligneo a cassettoni, il Comune e vedere i preparativi per il corteo di Carlo V con tutti i personaggi in abito d'epoca. Insomma una bella e gustosa giornata in un paese in cui ti senti a casa. In the heart of Nicosia you can see the imposing and beautiful bell tower and facing the square the beautiful portico of the Cathedral of San Nicola. Inside, the beautiful wooden crucifix stands out. It was nice to visit the town on the occasion of the Nocattolo Festival, a typical dessert made with puff pastry and a cream of almonds and cinnamon on top. The nicest surprise was the kindness of the locals and the opportunity to taste local products in the various stands with the purchase of vaucers with € 5 which includes appetizers: 4 types of local cold cuts, 4 types of cheeses all delicious; then a glass of very good semi-sweet wine / beer; tastings of chilli pate and jams; bucatini al sugo with exquisite meat and mushrooms and water and finally the Nocattolo in the square. And at the same time being able to visit the historic center with the church of San Calogero with its wooden coffered ceiling, the Municipality and see the preparations for the procession of Charles V with all the characters in period dress. In short, a beautiful and tasty day in a country where you feel at home.
N	Nicosiano DOP on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Cattedrale di Nicosia, dedicata a San Nicola di Bari, rappresenta, insieme alla sua torre campanaria, l'opera più insigne della città di Nicosia: essa sin dalle origini ebbe la prerogativa di essere la Chiesa Madre della città e nel 1388 fu ufficialmente riconosciuta Parrocchia dall'Arcivescovo di Messina, alla cui Archidiocesi Nicosia apparteneva. Con Bolla del 15 giugno 1521 fu eretta collegiata da Papa Leone X, e il 17 marzo 1817, con Bolla di Pio VII, fu eretta a Cattedrale e come tale fu consacrata il 15 giugno 1856 da Mons. Milana (l'avvenimento è attestato da una lapide posta di fronte all'ingresso della sacrestia); fu insignita del titolo e della dignità di Basilica Minore il 19 giugno 1967. È stata dichiarata Monumento Nazionale con R.D. del 21 novembre 1940. La data della sua costruzione è incerta, ma si vuole eretta nel XII secolo, in seguito alla scissione fra i due gruppi etnici (Mariani e Nicoleti) avvenuta dopo la conquista normanna della Sicilia.
