Recuperato e ristrutturato, all'inizio è stato adibito a ostello per i Pellegrini della via Francigena, ed oggi ospita la biblioteca ed alcuni uffici del Comune di Licciana Nardi. One of the last Castles built by the "MALASPINA", and never finished, was left to decay until the '90s. Recovered and renovated, at the beginning it was used as a hostel for pilgrims on the Via Francigena, and today houses the library and some offices of the Municipality of Licciana Nardi.

Il 1581 rappresenta l’anno di nascita del castello, la cui costruzione venne commissionata dal marchese Federico Malaspina, da poco entrato in possesso del feudo di Terrarossa. Si tratta di un edificio a pianta quadrata, articolato attorno ad un cortile quadrangolare, con quattro baluardi angolari terminanti a terrazza verso il torrente Civiglia. Si accede alla costruzione da un portale ad arco in conci di pietra arenaria. I prospetti esterni, con strutture in elevazione in ciottoli di fiume e pietra squadrata negli spigoli, sono definiti da semplici aperture rettangolari, tutte originariamente riquadrate da cornici in pietra. Una biblioteca occupa la porzione sud del castello; al piano superiore si trova una bella sala per incontri e convegni. Ampio parcheggio nella parte retrostante il castello, verso il torrente. Splendid castle easily accessible from the main road network. It has recently undergone refurbishment works and now has large welcoming rooms. A library occupies the southern portion of the castle; on the upper floor there is a beautiful room for meetings and conferences. Ample parking behind the castle, towards the stream.
