Castello di Ugento Hotel

This castle is a hidden gem in the heart of Salento. Location perfect, staff delightful - pure luxury! The restaurant is perfection - the chef is a true genius!! Will definitely return! Strongly recommend.

The Castello do Ugentonis unique. Transformed into a top culinary teaching centre and boutique hotel, exquisitely and meticulously restored. Special as the d’Amore family still live here, welcoming and mixing with the guests. Superbly located for touring the coastal towns and beaches of the Salento.

This was a really special stay. Every detail was catered to and anticipated. Our room was beautiful. Dinner was a highlight not to be missed. very inventive takes on italian dishes from the region. The staff is incredible. So warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The location is ideal for easy day trips to other towns and nearby beach clubs. this was an unforgettable stay.

Our time at the Castle was perfect. Not a detail missed. Such a special place. Our cooking class was so enjoyable. The food was spectacular at each meal. We can't wait to return!

Fantastic experience and stay at Castello di Ugento! My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in June and we really loved it! Our room was beautiful, spacious and you could really see how they have worked with details to get it so special. The Castello itself is very impressive - the history, the building, the garden and the surroundings is truly an experience. The food, drinks and wines was out of this world during our whole stay. We had the privilege to taste almost every course on the menu and it did not disappoint! Also, the breakfast was really good. The mornings was one of my favorite moments, having breakfast in the beautiful garden and planning the day (we got a lot of help and great recommendations from the staff). Thank you to all the staff at the Castello and to Diana and Massimo for making our stay so memorable. Can’t wait to go back!

I had the pleasure of staying in this hotel this weekend for a wedding. The place was everything but what really was phenomenal was the staff and food. First off can I say in a time when ppl may feel tired and not necessarily want to show up in kindness, this staff is phenomenal. Their demeanor, their kindness, their attentiveness, their essence. They were remarkable and the food was superb. My only regret is that they can’t come back to the US with me!!! Truly a memorable experience!

We had the best time at the Castello last weekend. The setting is absolutely magnificent and the renovation has been done with great taste and attention to detail. Sublime! The location is ideal to explore the Solento. Both on the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian sea. The surrounding villages and towns are easily accessible driving across olive and wine field. Thank you for such a warm welcome. And not to forget the food at the restaurant, delicious with a touch of creativity. We would love to come back!

BEWARE! On the website it clearly states that the deposit is fully refundable if your reservation is cancelled more than 30 days in advance. What they do not tell you is that the resort will simply stop responding to your emails if you request a refund. When I had a change of plans I canceled my reservation several months in advance of my stay. After following up several times, the director offered me either a credit for a future stay or a refund to my credit card. Very reasonable. As I was not sure when I would be back in the area, I requested a the refund. The director never responded. After some time and many more emails (which went ignored) I disputed the transaction with Visa as my promised refund had not come. About one month after that, the director reached out saying he had a family emergency and apologized for the long delay in response. He said that If I cancelled the credit card dispute the funds would be released to him and he would immediately refund my reservation. Not wanting to make a hard time worse I said of course and cancelled the dispute. That was weeks ago and despite several follow ups, he has ceased responding once again. I feel completely helpless and am out over $1000 because the property neither answers their phones nor responds to emails. I would strongly discourage anyone from making a reservation here unless they are 1000% sure they will be able to make it, as the refund policy is a complete scam. You will be ignored if you try to get a refund.
