Entriamo e la prima cosa che notiamo è la gentilezza e cordialità nell'accoglienza! Ci accomodiamo al secondo piano, interni molto belli con muri a volta e finestra in legno alta che mostra il cielo. Ordiniamo e l'attesa non è eccessiva per le prime portate di antipasto, a questo punto il palato dice la sua...antipasti di pesce squisiti! Arrivano i primi e poi i secondi i quali confermano che la bontà dell'antipasto non è stata fortuna, quantità non esagerate ma gusto e freschezza della materia prima vermente ottimi! Infine il dolce, ci viene consigliato il loro dolce a base di ricotta, ormai mi fidavo e l'ho provato...eccellente! Così come gli spumoni assaggiati dagli altri commensali. Personale cordiale, premuroso ma non invadente. Prezzo onesto per la qualità di ciò che abbiamo mangiato. Consiglio vivamente questo posto eccellente.

Ottimo ci siamo fermati a pranzo ci hanno portato delle frittelline con melanzana come benvenuto. abbiamo ordinato l'anti pasto della casa €14 ottimo per 2 composto da 9 assaggi, tutti senza carne con verdure, cereali, legumi, ottimo specialmente x vegetariani, 1 linguine con Ricci di mare €18, 1 grano perlato con gamberi €12 e poi ci hanno offerto 2 fette di ciambella con olio di oliva (delicatissima) e 2 assaggi di crema di pistacchio ghiacciata. 1/2 di vino €4,50 1 acqua €1,50. Totale€54. tornerò per assaggiare qualche dolce interessante. Cortesia cibo e l'ambiente carino meritano.

Traditional Puglian cooking with a twist!

Trappola per turisti. Mai mangiato così male in Puglia. Pesce polpo e gamberi congelati fatti passare per freschi. Assolutamente da evitare! Tourist trap! Be aware . It was a complete disappointment . They serve dishes with frozen fish and seafood but they tell you it’s fresh. It’s the absolute opposite of what Apulian cuisine is!

Not tourist friendly! Overcharged us and used a hand written receipt. This meal is triple the price of most meals and the food was nothing special. Pasta was not homemade, horse meatballs, small portions. Please... so many other places you can chose from. Be careful!!!!

There are a few places in Italy where the establishment sees an obvious tourist, and rips them off. This place, Trattoria La Vecchia Botte is the perfect example of one of those places. For example, on the printed menu, Antipasto Tipico is 14 euro. Not bad right? Look at my picture of the check, it turned into 72 euro. When I questioned the owner he said he "gave us more than normal." Look at the pictures, this is NOT true. The servings were laughably small. Four very small servings of orecchiette (circular pasta) with four tiny horse meatballs, this cost 11 euros a plate. Here's the kicker, two small sized lobsters... 112 euro. Just horrible. I have traveled all over this planet, this little restaurant, Trattoria La Vecchia Botte, in little Ugento, takes the prize as the biggest rip-off on the planet. You can eat in high dollar, incredible restaurants in Venice, Florence, Paris, New York City etc. for a lot less. On top of the horrible price increases for us tourists, the food was sub par. I will say, the literally, one inch square (not exagerating, look at this pictures) of eggplant parmesan, was tasty, the rest was not memorable. Steam a small lobster, that's what this bill consisted of for over 300 euro! I would bet the soggy pasta they served us was not even homemade. A bill for over 304 euro, we left hungry. Next, I will cover the owner's attitude. I do not know the history between his one waitress and him, but he would ding a bell and you could see fear in this poor girl's eyes! I do not mind paying for a meal over 300 euro, I've done it many times. However, when the food is not good, the servings are small, no pride, no artistic presentation, no ambiance, NO. It's just wrong. Well, you've been warned. STAY AWAY from this Trattoria. Twelve minutes away from this horrible, hotter than Hades restaurant, is a place in Racale, go there! In Racale, three courses, six people, incredible food, kind/fun people, the bill was 120 euro.
