★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The castle is pretty amazing. We had a guide to show us around but I found it far too quick without enough detail. Given that we paid only 2.50 a head, we cannot really complain. We did a second run through so we could read the information of which there is plenty available.
Definately worth a visit but do your homework before, makes it all the more interesting.
Unfortunately I find that when visiting these historical monuments that the kids seem to have no conception of where they are and it is just fun and games which is a negative distraction when concentrating on a guide' s tour. Would be nice if they were asked to politely and respectfully keep quiet. In all situations.
Enjoy Trani for its natural beauty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Swabian Castle of Trani was built in the city of Trani in 1233, under the reign of Frederick II of Swabia.
It was declared a National Monument with the R.D. 27 October 1936, n. 2091 [1] (repealed by Presidential Decree 248/2010).
Since December 2014, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities has been managing it through the Apulia Museum Complex, which in December 2019 became the Regional Directorate for Museums.
