La proprietà del castello rimase in capo alla famiglia Avogadro fino alla fine del diciottesimo secolo. Il cambio di proprietà avvenne nel 1798, quando il castello che svetta in cima all’abitato di Lozzolo fu acquistato dal canonico Carlo Amedeo Tornielli Rho, per poi essere ceduto, intorno al 1875 ai fratelli Patriarca, che portarono al suo interno la vocazione vitivinicola del territorio: le sale, infatti, vennero utilizzate per la loro attività di agricoltori e viticoltori. Col passare degli anni questa porzione del castello venne suddivisa in tre parti uguali, assegnata ai vari discendenti. Alcune parti del castello hanno subito il degrado e la mancata manutenzione nel corso degli anni. Oggi uno dei proprietari, l’artista belga Jean Marie Pierret, ha iniziato un’opera di recupero e restauro. Un primo passo per ravvivare il simbolo di Lozzolo, che ha già ricevuto il plauso dell’amministrazione comunale e del comitato Loxolensis, che auspica che l’esempio del docente universitario belga, così innamorato di Lozzolo, venga seguito anche dagli altri proprietari. The construction dates back to the late 1400s and early 1500s by the Counts Avogadro di Lozzolo. The ownership of the castle remained in the hands of the Avogadro family until the end of the eighteenth century. The change of ownership took place in 1798, when the castle that stands at the top of the village of Lozzolo was bought by the canon Carlo Amedeo Tornielli Rho, to then be sold, around 1875 to the Patriarca brothers, who brought to its interior the wine vocation of the territory: the rooms, in fact, were used for their activities as farmers and wine growers. Over the years this portion of the castle was divided into three equal parts, assigned to the various descendants. Some parts of the castle have suffered degradation and lack of maintenance over the years. Today one of the owners, the Belgian artist Jean Marie Pierret, has begun a work of recovery and restoration. A first step to revive the symbol of Lozzolo, which has already received the approval of the municipal administration and the Loxolensis committee, which hopes that the example of the Belgian university lecturer, so in love with Lozzolo, will also be followed by the other owners.

Da questi agli Avogadro di Lozzolo e poi via via ad altre famiglie che lo ampliarono rimaneggiandolo profondamente: in particolare i Tornielli-Rho che aggiunsero alla fine del 1500 i palazzi "Est" e "Sud" e nel 1725 l'oratorio di santa Maria degli Angeli . Nella seconda metà dell'800 furono rifatti gli interni anche con interventi di pregiati artisti come gli Avondo che lo abitarono. La parte del maniero che meglio si è conservata è la facciata nord con i classici muri trecenteschi a "spina di pesce" e la scenografica torre; questi locali ospitano l'enoteca Berteletti. The castle was built between 1200 and 1250, probably by the Sonamonte who passed it in 1302 to the Avogadro di Collobiano.
