β β β β β I highly not recommend this place. The menu in English is confusing for the customer as the food received was totally different from stated in menu card. Besides the meal - fish smelled with mud and tasted horrible. Something that was meant to be grilled tasted as boiled. The service is not willing to understand customer's point of view and the reason but attacks with non justified clarifications. No 'excuse me' or appologize after at all, even not saying about refund. At the end I must say - lack of proffesionalism at all taking original prize for the order and finally mentioning service smoking cigarretes in front of the customers.

β β β β β The music is really nice and not loud, the place is isolated and quiet. I tried the Tropea pizza which was nothing more than ok. A friend of mine tried a gluten free reggina margarita which was fantastic!

β β β β β We were very disappointed by the service and food we were offered at capre diem. We ordered a platter of mixed grilled fish and received one poor filet and two pieces of king prawns for 18 euros! On top the dish wasn't the freshest and wasn't seasoned. The other dish was grilled king prawns for 14 euros which turned out to be 5 pieces boiled in their own sauce with a pinch of red pepper seeds. As we told the waiter that we are very unhappy about what they served us, he brought his boss to the table who didn't want to listen to us, but instead tried to defend himself and make us look stupid. At the end we said that we only want to pay and leave, even though we didn't eat any of the food after trying the first bite, and even that was a problem for the staff as they were discussing the issue ignoring us completely and not bringing any check. So we left the money on the table and left to NEVER EVER come back again.

β β β β β Nice please, nearby main piazza. The staff was first friendly, but then when our frutti di mare turned out to be chewy, they tried to convince us, that "this is how we eat in Italy". Sad. please to drink coffee or wine, not to eat.

β β β β β We have been going to Carpe Diem for nearly 10 years. It is without a doubt one of our favourite restaurants in Calabria. Family run, delicious food and a lovely location, deep in the backstreets of Tropea.
Service has always been excellent and we highly recommend it.
