★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Castroreale is a pearl among the most beautiful villages in Italy, still an insider tipp and not very turistic, it is a must see. The village sits on top of a mountain and has an amazing breathtaking view on the sea and the Eolian Islands. Particularly the dom has historic and artistic value while the piazza in front of it is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen with a fantastic view. Especially in summer there are some nice events like the jazz festival, around the first week of August, or the Cristo Lungo processionend of August. From Castroreale it is also possible to hike/mountainbike in the surrounding mountains, even going as far as Savoca.
For the hungry tourist there is Castropub and ristorante il duomo, both very good restaurants, and a bakery specialized in the production of very special biscuits...enjoy!
