Bistrò Argegno

Simple, no frills Italian food. Not region specific but a great place to sit with friends and a few bottles of wine. The people who run the place are friendly, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

Only a small menu but excellent ingredients and taste. Very good wine selection and friendly staff. Nice decoration and good background music. Prices are also ok.

Extremely low-key, very affordable. It's a great place to grab dinner when you're tired from a day out in the sun but don't feel like cooking. You can also buy some wines and cheeses to take home.

A truly hidden gem with very friendly personnel, great food at very reasonable prices. Definitely NOT your microwave oven tourist lasagna, but really fresh pasta served in a very nice ambiance. In the morning they provide good fresh bread for takeaway and also make a pretty good sandwich. You might wanna order a local wine or an artisanal beer. Go check this very special bar before it gets discovered!

My fiancé and I came here yesterday and were really looking forward to it as this place seems less touristy and more authentic than the restaurants in Argegno. However, we were left disappointed by the service. We were not welcomed in this place at all, perhaps the man serving couldn’t speak English well and that’s why we were given less attention than the other tables next to us. Fair enough, I can deal with that to a point. However, it’s still good practice to come and check on your tables to see if our food is ok etc. What turned me off the most was the man (not sure if he was the owner) could see we were finished our food and instead chatted to the table next to us then went inside instead of asking us if we need anything else. We eventually got his attention, got the bill and put our cash on the table in full view. We waited patiently as at first it looked like he was busy but then he came out and stood at the table next to us and lit up a cigarette. He proceeded to chat to this table while we sat there waiting to go. Then we assumed he would come and take our money after his cigarette but instead he went inside to take payment for the people he was having a chat with. We finally just went in and paid inside. If he wanted us to pay inside that’s fine but why not tell us that? As for the food, it was tasty and reasonably priced. However, the food in Argegno isn’t great in general, maybe it’s a lake Como problem, too touristy and not enough authenticity. Shame about this place as it has potential.

Fantastic meal and very good value. Lady serving us was very helpful in preparing a meat and cheese platter as I'm pregnant. I had resigned myself to not having any of the locally produced meats and cheeeses on my trip to Italy this time but she checked all of the labels to ensure it was either cooked or pasteurized and served me a very impressive selection. She also prepared an non alcoholic cocktail for me. Really enjoyed my evening there.

Do not judge a book by its cover ... a real hidden gem. Simple food cooked well with a great wine, cheese, and meat selection. Perfect for a wine + snack or a full meal! Menu is very small so probably best for people who are not expecting 20 pages of mains!

A fantastic experience throughout, could not recommend more. The knowledge was undeniable. Can't wait to go back. Andreas and Mirella were the best hosts you could ask for!
