Beautiful and worth seeing. However, if you need to use internet, do not come here, there is only one computer available and the wifi, even though it says its public, you will not be given the access code to it. Also the lady who worked the closing shift was incredibly rude, unlike the man in the front desk who was helpful and always showed a great attitude.

An old Library Italians use that they will let you peep at. Interesting interior that's fun to see, like a mediocre (for Rome) Church, but happily, for a change, not a Church, and with the refreshing decoration of walls full of mysterious old tomes instead of pious Saints. Plus, what are all those people at the tables studying? At a glance this library does not carry any books published after 1850 or so. I wish my library had a bit of this. We've stopped carrying anything published before 2012. Very much not worth a trip of any kind, and yet totally worth the five minutes if you just happen to be passing by (and Caravaggio fans might as it's next to Church of St. Augustine with its Madonna of the Pilgrims).

This is a truly impressive library and worth the time to stop and see. Basic entry is free, but you're only allowed to go into the first ~10ft of the library unless you're an actual scholar/patron.

Astonished that someone else left such a negative review for the staff's ability in foreign languages! I agree that the staff may not necessarily be the best, but the library is absolutely stunning. If I had to pinpoint a negative side, then it's the amount of noisy tourists visiting the main room who never show respect for the obvious library behaviour code.

A little gem we stumbled upon while visiting all the nearby church. Husband and I were astounded by the quality of the old documents maintained in this location and the peaceful oasis in the heart of Rome. Entry is free as locals used this location for reading, studying, etc. Worth the stop a few minutes to admire the collection. Entrance is at the right of the church, up the stone staircase.

Public library in Rome. It is located in front of the Piazza Sant'Angostino square. It is one of the oldest ones, established by Angelo Rocca by year 1604 and it is part of the over 45 libraries. It holds over 200,000 books, manuscripts.
