β β β β β It is not about the basilica, but it is about river and bridges.

β β β β β There is something alluring about this catholic church located on the Tiberina Island. It was built in the year 1000. It hosts the remains of Saint Bartolomeo. It surely represents a very important point of reference for the sick people attending the hospitals located on the island. It is known also for the testimonies and the artworks dedicated to the Martyrs of Christianity of all centuries. A place for prayer and for spiritual healing located in one of the most beautiful and popular places in the center of Rome, the Tiberina Island

β β β β β I like this church, even though it's not the grandest of Basilicas in Rome. Pope John Paul II dedicated it to the new martyrs of the 20th and 21st Centuries. There are stories and relics of these martyrs from every continent in the side altars. I was moved, inspired and appalled by these stories. The good thing is that there will not be many tourists or visitors, so you can take your own time to read and walk around the church.
