Aggiungo un piccolo particolare non horror a quanto detto il giardino del chiostro è stato reimpiantato con la stessa tipologia di piante dell epoca nella stessa posizione...un riuscito esempio di restauro..e rispetto del luogo. Suggestive, intimate, not always accessible ... if you happen to visit it, don't miss the cloister. I add a small non-horror detail to what has been said the cloister garden has been replanted with the same type of plants of the time in the same position ... a successful example of restoration .. and respect for the place.
G	Gianluca Pica on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' molto complesso visitare questo luogo, o addirittura organizzarci un tour con una visita guidata come me, poiché gli orari e non solo permettono difficilmente l'ingresso. La chiesa di San Giovanni Decollato è solitamente aperta solo una volta l'anno, ma semmai riuscirete ad entrare al suo interno rimarrete sorpresi non tanto dall'architettura in sé o dalle opere d'arte poste all'interno, quanto dall'atmosfera che si può respirare al proprio interno. La chiesa è, infatti, collegata ad una secolare confraternita che per molto tempo si dedicò completamente all'assistenza dei condannati a morte e dei loro cadaveri dopo l'avvenuta esecuzione, tragici eventi ricordati dal piccolo museo posto nella chiesa in cui vi sono manufatti ed oggetti legati anche a condannati a morte famosi (come la celebre Beatrice Cenci). Una visita in questo piccolo angolo di Roma, insomma, vi potrebbe aiutare a conoscere qualcosa in più sulla storia dell'Urbe e di alcuni suoi aspetti oscuri... The church of San Giovanni Decollato is usually open only once a year, but if you ever manage to enter it you will be surprised not so much by the architecture itself or by the works of art placed inside, but by the atmosphere that it can breathe within itself. The church is, in fact, connected to a centuries-old brotherhood that for a long time devoted itself completely to the assistance of those sentenced to death and their corpses after their execution, tragic events remembered by the small museum located in the church where there are artifacts and objects also linked to famous death row inmates (such as the famous Beatrice Cenci). In short, a visit to this small corner of Rome could help you to know something more about the history of the city and some of its dark aspects ...
t	tommaso grenga on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa con il relativo chiostro viene aperta una volta l'anno, il 24 giugno ma per quest'anno l'apertura è stata anticipata a oggi 23 giugno. Grazie ad un'associazione di cui faccio parte ho potuto ascoltare la storia della confraternita dei Sacconi neri, che assistevano i condannati a morte, cercando di salvare loro l'anima in extremis. La confraternuta esiste ancora e continua a dare conforto spirituale a tutte le persone che si trovano in carcere oppure a compiere opere di bene. All'interno della chiesa e nell'oratorio possiamo vedere molti affreschi di pittori fiorentini; non a caso la confraternita era originaria di Firenze e non a caso San Giovanni è patrono di quella città. Tra i nomi celebri che avremmo potuto incrociare tra queste mura troviamo Michelangelo. Qui trovarono riposo anche le ceneri di Giordano Bruno all'interno della cripta, anche se in punto di morte non si era mai pentito abiurando. Se da un lato dispiace non poter fare foto o video di questo luogo,visto che non è concesso, dall'altro penso che nessuna foto o video possa restituire al meglio le sensazioni che questo luogo trasmette. If on the one hand I regret not being able to take photos or videos of this place, since it is not allowed, on the other I think that no photo or video can best convey the sensations that this place transmits.
