Si raggiunge con una bella passeggiata nel bosco su stradina e sentiero, a tratti ripido, partendo da località Vivaio (sulla strada che sale da Vallada Agordina verso Forcella Lagazzon); discreto spazio per parcheggiare. La baita sorge su una ampia radura in pendenza son vista sul Civetta protetta a nord dalle cime del sottogruppo dell'Auta. Ha due locali sempre aperti: uno più ampio con stufa, tavolo e qualche posto per dormire (tavolato); l'altro più piccolo, anch'esso con tavolo, provvisto di focolare. Nelle immediate vicinanze una bella fontana. E' raggiungibile tutto l'anno: bellissimo con la neve, rigogliose fioriture in primavera/inizio estate. E' stato oggetto in passato di devastazioni da parte di turisti irrispettosi. La baita sopravvive tuttora più bella che mai! È ben fornita di pentole, padelle, stoviglie, camino, stufa spoiler, griglia esterna. Nel bel mezzo di un ampio pascolo, subito fuori dal bosco, baciata dal sole e con sorgente d'acqua a 50 metri. Inizialmente si prende una strada forestale che si inerpica sulla sinistra, successivamente si può prpseguire su sentiero e si raggiunge agilmente la Baita Pianezza. Da qui è possibile proseguire verso l'omonima forcella, scendere per la strada dell'andata o scendere verso la frazione di Cogul, da Cogul successivamente si può raggiungere il Vivaio Picolet tramite strada forestale.
