★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nell’area a sud del decumano, sono stati messi in luce i resti di diverse costruzioni di varia cronologia, le più recenti costruzioni risalgono a età bizantina. E’ probabile che, affacciandosi sulla pubblica piazza (agorà), ci si trovi in presenza soprattutto di edifici con funzioni pubbliche. In particolare, un grande edificio circolare, di cui resta poco più di un basamento, è stato interpretato come una terma di età romana, poi trasformata in battistero in età bizantina. All’alimentazione della terma, che richiedeva di una grande quantità di acqua, sarebbero da riferire i pozzi e il sistema di canali sotterranei individuati nell’area. Alle spalle dell’edificio circolare, sulla parete di una piccola latomia, in età bizantina, fu scoperta una piccola catacomba cristiana.
