F	Filippo Natoli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luogo quasi sempre chiuso e sconosciuto ai più fino adesso pur essendo parte della storia contemporanea della città di Ragusa (sfruttata come cava e propaganda dal regime fascista, fu rifugio antiaereo durante la seconda guerra mondiale), sarà visibile fino al mese di novembre grazie alla volontà dell'associazione regionale guide turistiche, del C.A.I. e del comune di Ragusa. Grazie alla guida preparata ed appassionata la visita, che dura un'oretta, scorre veloce ed interessante. Speriamo che questo "esperimento" possa continuare e che la Cava possa essere attrezzata con l'utilizzo del strumentazioni museali moderne (al momento solo un breve video proiettato su una parete) che la renderebbero di certo molto più appetibile. Thanks to the prepared and passionate guide, the visit, which lasts an hour, runs fast and interesting. We hope that this "experiment" can continue and that the quarry can be equipped with the use of modern museum equipment (at the moment only a short video projected on a wall) which would certainly make it much more attractive.
E	Erika Romeo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visitata attraverso il festival LE VIE DEI TESORI, Cava Gonfalone è un eccezionale sito di archeologia industriale, un labirinto che corre sotto la città, una enorme latomia scavata dall’uomo dalla quale, per oltre 200 anni, i “pirriaturi” hanno estratto i blocchi di pietra con cui è stata ricostruita Ragusa Ibla ed è stata data vita a Ragusa Superiore. Nella parte occidentale delle latomie sono ancora evidenti, nelle pareti e nelle volte, i segni lasciati dal piccone dei cavatori. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, le latomie sono state utilizzate dagli abitanti come rifugio antiaereo. Visited through the LE VIE DEI TESORI festival, Cava Gonfalone is an exceptional site of industrial archeology, a labyrinth that runs under the city, a huge latomia dug by man from which, for over 200 years, the "pirriaturi" have extracted the blocks of stone with which Ragusa Ibla was rebuilt and Ragusa Superiore was born. In the western part of the quarries, the marks left by the quarrymen's pickaxe are still evident in the walls and vaults. During the Second World War, the quarries were used by the inhabitants as an air-raid shelter.
