★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sulla provinciale a 11 Km. dall'Aquila è possibile visitare la zona archeologica di Ariternum dove sorgono i resti di quello che era il teatro Romano.
Risalente al periodo Augusteo è stato ricavato sul pendio della collina è caratterizzato da una notevole acustica, la cavea di 80 metri di diamentro disposta su due livelli; Il teatro era costituito da blocchi di pietra squadrati e poteva ospitare circa 2000 persone. Abbandonato dopo il IV Sec. D.C. è stato come necropoli, poco vicino sono posizionati i resti di quello che doveva essere una grande Domus patrizia, utilizzata anche dopo la caduta dell'impero.
Parcheggio vicino sulla provinciale e sito visitabile gratuitamente.

Dating back to the Augustan period, it was built on the slope of the hill and is characterized by remarkable acoustics, the 80 meters diameter auditorium arranged on two levels; The theater consisted of squared stone blocks and could accommodate around 2000 people. Abandoned after the 4th century AD it was like a necropolis, the remains of what used to be a large patrician Domus, used even after the fall of the empire, are located nearby.
Parking near the provincial road and site can be visited for free.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissimo teatro romano, di epoca augustea, eretto nella città di Amiternum, ove nacque Sallustio. Visibile il classico "opus reticolatum". A breve distanza è localizzato anche l'anfiteatro romano con una struttura completamente diversa e che invece risalirebbe al I secolo d. C.
Si consiglia caldamente di visitare entrambi ne vale assolutamente la pena.
Beautiful Roman theater, from the Augustan era, erected in the city of Amiternum, where Sallustio was born. The classic "opus reticolatum" is visible. A short distance away there is also the Roman amphitheater with a completely different structure and which instead dates back to the 1st century AD. C.
It is highly recommended that you visit both is absolutely worth it.
