Non è un caso, poiché quest'arcata congiungeva due edifici che facevano parte di un intero complesso edilizio di proprietà della celeberrima famiglia nobile del Rinascimento. Da guida turistica, ma anche da semplice cittadino, mi piace sempre passare di qua perché, dopotutto, questo ponticello attesta sia il prestigio e la ricchezza dei Farnese nel passato, ma anche il progetto, mai realizzato, che prevedeva la costruzione di un vero ponte che potesse congiungere le due rive del Tevere o, meglio ancora, due edifici di proprietà dei Farnese. I blasoni laterali e le balaustre superiori completano degnamente tutta l'opera. Non sono mai riuscito a capire se ci sia modo di poterlo vedere da sopra, un peccato. Comunque una passeggiata in zona ne vale sicuramente la pena. Beautiful monumental arch that crosses the central Via Giulia. L’artista con queste rappresentazioni, voleva salvare l’immagine di luoghi di Roma antica e popolare che già in quell’epoca stavano scomparendo, grazie a lui quindi possiamo avere l’idea di come la città ancora si mostrava nel XIX secolo. Questa bellissima raccolta (ora sono disponibili 119 dipinti) è presente nel Museo di Roma in Trastevere.
