★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today we have had a really bad experience in this restaurant. Apparently the place has changed administration and everything has been changed. We waited for more than one hour to get the starters and half an hour later the first course arrived. After all the waiting the quality of the food was really lower than what we were expecting. Last but not least the prices have gone really high.
To summarize: A really bad experience...!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very unfriendly waitress (small, dark haired. Quotation: "the guest is not always right"). Other waiters apologized for her behavior but did nothing against it. Surroundings unthrivy (construction area nearby). We waited more than one hour for our main dish. And when they served it we got very hard and cold risotto and noodles. We know Italian cuisine very well and there is a difference between al dente and duro. Waitress began to shout and quarrel against us. As Austrian citizens we live near the Italian border and love Italy upmost but such we never experienced before.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the more expansive restaurants in trieste. Here you get the traditional portions of italy, so you are able to eat several courses. The quality is very good. Service people are also nice. Since you get the same quality for less money, i don't know, if everyone would be really happy afterwards.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice atmosphere on the outdoor patio and really delicious food. We had the tartar and croquettes for starters and then the veal, Cesar salad raviolis, and Gnocchi. Bread for the table was also very tasty and unique. Friendly and attentive service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We really enjoyed our experience at Al Petes. We believe it is one of the best restaurants in Trieste, Italy. We selected the 10-course tasting menu and were so impressed by the service, the creativity of the dishes and the great wine list. We highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back on our next trip to Trieste.
