Ristorante Al Bagatto

The place and the service is nice. Unfortunately the kitchen is trying to modernize traditional Italian food but they are doing it by changing portion size to very small and not by being creative.

The stars must have gone into their heads. If you're alone or in a couple, don't bother going there -they don't want your business, period. Even though I went an hour and a half before closing, and they had several empty tables, they told me they were sorry ("Mi dispiace" Awwwww! How cute it sounds in Italian, isn't it?). They didn't even ask for me to wait because, even though they won't admit it, they only serve groups. And no, they don't take reservations, so that wasn't the issue.

Unfortunately, yet another acclaimed institution, flagging with Michelin mentioning, yet far from supplying the resonance to the cost... Eventhough the space itself feels more like a storage room than romantic high end restaurant, it actually started promising, with a nice selection of olive oils to some bread, and a tasty miniature appetizer we've received complimentary (retrospectively, it was the best "dish" of the meal...). We shared a starter, a primi (pasta) and a secondi (fish) and dessert as experience taught us it is more than enough for us - in this restaurant the portions were really not meant for sharing. Don't let the prices fool you, they are anything but generous - but that's not the main issue, as we've been to restaurants where the satisfaction came rather from the quality and uniqueness and not from size. Here, we were underwhelmed again and again...none of the 3 courses was impressive in any way. The dessert was somewhat of a better note to finish with, but still, the disappointment already surrounded us... To top that, the service was correct, but not pleasant, and definitely a low point of the service was failing to inform us about the fact that eventhough it is not mentioned on the menu nor by her explanation to us, the fish side dish came with speck - as we've asked why was it not mentioned in the menu or her description, the reply was inpatient, that this local side dish is known for being served with speck on it - as we are obviously not locals, why not mention it in advance, and/or apologize for it, instead of behaving insulted by our remark..? I'd say that falls under unprofessional behavior, not expected at that class.

The menù Is perfectly balanced. The number of available plates is perfect and you can tell everything is carefully selected on the bases of the fish market availability. The service is great, everything plate has been properly presented to us. Unfortunately I cannot present how much we spent, but I remember the price of the starter ( seppie ) so called "ricordi quella volta" ~18€ and the spaghetti called "paradiso[...]" Which cost 22€.

Located in a tourist trap. Service was appalling as was the "pizza". Couldn"t care less attitude from staff, no sanitizing if condiments and face masks at half mast. Wanted a second beer, staff totally oblivious. Won"t be back. If the staff and chef can't be bothered then neither can I.

I happened upon this Michelin starred restaurant walking by. Yes, they had room for me ( They had more room than I needed). Service was robotic; scripted. Food sounded better than it was. I didn’t think it was good enough to return.

A perfect evening at Al Bagatto To the birthday of my girlfriend we travelled to Trieste and I booked a table at Al Bagatto´s “”. The Privée is a whole room for you and perfect for romantic evenings or some private hours. Marco and all the other waiters were extraordinary friendly and polite, so we felt from the first step really much comfortable. The food was absolutely tasteful and really delicious. We took the menu with wine pairing and every course and each sip of wine were great. Thank you for this great evening and all the best from Vienna Florian Visit: 14th April 2022
