A	Antony O on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Era una bellissima Abbazia con una Chiesa stupenda... ci sono stato diversi anni da quando c'erano nuovamente i Monaci Benedettini guidati da Padre Luigi Tiana osb, che come comunità l'hanno rimessa in vita, ringiovanita e accessoriata per l'ospitalità: pensare che ho animato spesso delle messe con l'Organo a Canne che stava nella tribuna sopra l'ingresso, si saliva con una scala a chiocciola.. poi collassato con tutta la facciata alla seconda forte scossa di terremoto... se fosse capitato di esser li all'organo durante una di queste scosse, forse a quest'ora non sarei qui a scrivere, ma sotto le macerie assieme all'organo. Inserisco alcune foto ormai storiche, visto che ora ci sono solo macerie; è rimasto il Custode Marco nelle vicinanze, in una piccola casetta nel parcheggio vicino al parco giochi; anche il ristorante ha subito gravi danni It was a beautiful Abbey with a stupendous Church ... there have been several years since the Benedictine monks were back there led by Father Luigi Tiana osb, who as a community have brought it back to life, rejuvenated and equipped for hospitality: to think that I often animated masses with the pipe organ that was in the tribune above the entrance, it was climbed with a spiral staircase .. then collapsed with all the facade to the second strong earthquake ... if it had happened to to be there at the organ during one of these shocks, perhaps at this time I would not be here writing, but under the rubble with the organ. I insert some historical photos, since now there are only rubble; the Custos Marco remained nearby, in a small cottage in the parking lot near the playground; the restaurant has also suffered serious damage

Non è nemmeno visitabile in quanto ci sono tuttora i lavori di messa in sicurezza. Three stars only because now (October 2018), after the earthquake there is very little left to see. Sono tornato dopo il terremoto e grande e stato il dispiacere nel vedere lo stato in cui era ridotto . Speriamo venga riportato all'antico splendore e si possa tornare a visitarlo. S	Stefania Porfiri on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'abbazia che sorge a Piedivalle, nel Comune di Preci (PG) in Valle Castoriana, fu fondata verso la fine del V sec. dal monaco siriano Eutizio. Su un costone di pietra furono scavate le prime grotte in cui si insediarono i primi eremiti. In seguito i monaci seguirono la regola benedettina e costruirono edifici ecclesiastici, fra cui un'importante biblioteca, dove erano raccolti testi della medicina greco-romana, il cui studio permise loro di dar vita alla prestigiosa scuola chirurgica preciana, che raggiunse l'apice della fama nel XVI secolo, specializzandosi soprattutto nell'operazione della cataratta e nell'asportazione chirurgica dei calcoli renali. In seguito al terremoto del 2016, buona parte degli edifici è crollata o è stata gravemente danneggiata. Dal mese di giugno 2020 è stato affidato ad un gruppo di professionisti lo studio di fattibilità di restauro dell'intero complesso monastico. Following the 2016 earthquake, most of the buildings collapsed or were severely damaged. Since June 2020, a group of professionals has been entrusted with the feasibility study for the restoration of the entire monastic complex.

Pubblico queste foto che ho scattato nel 2012 per ricordare questo luogo meraviglioso, sperando che un giorno possa tornare ad essere ammirato in tutta la sua bellezza. Unfortunately this splendid abbey was partly destroyed by the earthquake of October 26, 2016. I am publishing these photos that I took in 2012 to remember this wonderful place, hoping that one day it can return to being admired in all its beauty.
