Commissionata al celebre architetto da Paolo Almerico, ecclesiastico vicentino e raffinato uomo di cultura, questa maestosa villa dalle quattro facciate perfettamente uguali, Γ¨ considerata lβicona universale delle ville palladiane. Le decorazioni interne sono straordinarie sotto ogni punto di vista, sia pittorico che scultoreo e come Γ¨ notevole il parco, aperto sulla campagna circostante.
Dopo la morte di Paolo Almerico, la villa fu venduta a Odorico Capra. Dal 1911 la villa Γ¨ proprietΓ dalla famiglia Valmarana di Venezia, che lβha aperta al pubblico dal 1986.
 La Rotonda β, the best known name by which Villa Almerico Capra is known, is the most famous of the villas designed by Andrea Palladio who inserts it in the section dedicated to city palaces in his" Four Books of Architecture ". Commissioned to the famous architect by Paolo Almerico, a Vicentine clergyman and refined man of culture, this majestic villa with four perfectly identical facades is considered the universal icon of Palladian villas. The internal decorations are extraordinary from every point of view, both pictorial and sculptural and as is the remarkable park, open on the surrounding countryside.
After the death of Paolo Almerico, the villa was sold to Odorico Capra. Since 1911 the villa has been owned by the Valmarana family of Venice, who have opened it to the public since 1986.

β β β β β Gorgeous setting, impressive architecture, especially for one who is a fan of early American architecture. Although Jefferson did not go there, the influence of the Palladian design on Jefferson's thought and the early republic are evident.
