I got tricked by Lubea, the company owner, and ripped off 300 Euros, 7 hours after reserving and booking a place she manages and describes as different than it is. Lubea and her clearly fraudulent company manages a listing for the property “Fontanino” in Monticiano which I booked on Saturday 28th August 2021 at 12 pm for the following 8 nights. I specifically inquired if the place “is quiet, far from roads, barking dogs, and neighbours” because “I am looking for a VERY quiet place and I have a cat that lives outside”. I was reassured that the place is “isolated”, “1.2 km away from a village” and the only dogs I can hear are those from the village. No mention of any roads nearby. So I booked the place, paid 500 Euros, packed my car and travelled 2 hours upon a tortuous road in the evening to get to the venue. Seven hours later, at 7 pm, I arrived and discovered that the lodging is off the main (and busy) road (that serves locals as the main road to get to Siena, 40 km away) and that the 1.2 km distance refers to the distance to the village via road. It is actually right in front of it, a mere 183m via air which is the distance that matters in terms of acoustic pollution. To me, the place was noisy and not safe for me and my cat. I refused to check in and immediately contacted the agency and spoke to Luana about a refund. Luana told me “you bought a product we were selling and it is your choice if you want to keep it or not, that’s not my problem.”. She has refused to take responsibility for not being transparent and essentially lying to me about the property. Her cancellation policy via airbnb is such that I lost 300 Euros there and then for a lodging that I reserved a mere 7 hours earlier. In my experience, the company is set on selling "a pig in a poke" and making money like that, instead of caring for their customers' satisfaction and providing the service they expect. I am happy to share my experience with anyone who wishes to know more, as this kind of service - or rather fraudulent behaviour - should not exist.
