Podere Salicotto is our most favorite place to stay in Italy. We come from California to Italy for a month usually twice a year and stay at Podere Salicotto for at least a week. That is never long enough. We cannot wait for the virus to settle enough so that we can return to the converted farm for a longer time. It is the most beautiful, relaxing, warm, loving place to stay. Silvia and Paolo the owners have incredible taste. The rooms are simply but exquisitely furnished. The details are beautiful inside and out. The homemade breakfasts and sometimes dinners are very delicious. The staff is attentive and friendly. The area all around Buonconvento is beautiful and fun to explore. So is the wonderful city of Siena, magical town of Pienza and fabulous wine area of Montalcino. Or you don’t need to drive anywhere, but can stay at Podere Salicotto and travel from there. There is so much to choose from to do every day. You can easily stay right on the property all day and night and relax or walk into town or hike in the hills or just watch the gorgeous sunrise and sunsets in a 360 degree circle from the lawn and listen to the birds all day. It is nature and the earth in all its glory. One of the best things is to watch the millions of stars out at night as you look north to the lights of Siena or south to the spectacular view of Monte Amiata.

Definitely recommend! We stayed only three nights and we were wishing to have more time. Silvia, Paulo and their team are fantastic - in the lead up to our visit Silvia was extremely helpful with the planning and the whole team is available onsite to assist with anything you need. The rooms are lovely - spacious, clean, great views. There are only 7 rooms plus an apartment so the property has a very cozy and homey feel to it. The pool was one of the main reasons we chose Salicotto and we were not disappointed. It’s awesome! The food is fantastic. Breakfast is a typical Italian buffet plus the option of eggs however you like them - this is included in the room rate and a major plus. If you’re lucky enough to be there on a night that Silvia and Paulo host a group dinner, be sure to join! It’s a lovely experience and very reasonably priced. The property operates on the honor system so you just take what you need (bottled water, beer, wine, snacks, etc.) as you go and then settle up at the end. There is family made wine, olive oil, and more - all of which was excellent. There is also a shared refrigerator plus access to cutlery, plates, etc. if you need them. The only downside is that is that it is a bit far from the closest town (Buonconvento) and other sights (Siena, Montalcino, etc). We did not have a car so required a driver wherever we went. This worked well for us but it would be worth consider a rental car depending on the types of activities you want to do.

The best choice. Location, friendliness, accommodation and everything else. Here you really rest and recharge your batteries. Also one of the best locations to explore Tuscany. I can’t wait to come again! Silvia and Paolo are the best hosts!

The hotel is beautifully located and not far from Montalcino. The view is spectacular and the rooms are lovingly decorated and comfortable. The host and staff are super friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

We enjoyed our stay at Podere Salicotto very much. It is situated on a hill with an amazing view over the Tuscan rolling hills. The hosts Silvia and Paolo were very kind, friendly and helpful at any case - and also their employees Maria and Patrick. Maria served a lovely prepared breakfast. Each morning it was a surprise what kind of goodies she would put on the plates. At the Swimmingpool we could relax, take a swim and enjoy the beautiful view. Sitting in front of the house, drinking a glas of wine and wating for the marvellous sunset was another highlight of our stay. We can only recommend the place!

Everything about this place is fantastic! The location is excellent as a base to explore Tuscany. The hill towns, the sea, and Florence are all within a 2-hour or less drive. Podere Salicotto is also the perfect place to relax and unwind from being a whirlwind tourist. The classic Tuscan views while sitting poolside with a glass of cold Prosecco from their 24/7 honor system cellar are truly dream like. Breakfast prepared by Maria is always unique and delicious. The accommodations are quite comfortable…our windows opened to the Tuscan hills making it difficult to tear ourselves away. In addition to the location and amenities, the people make this place one that you want to return to. Owners Paolo and Silvia greet you like long lost friends, offer helpful suggestions for restaurants (and make reservations for you), local places to visit (that aren’t in a tourist guide), and places to shop. Their passion for slow food, slow travel is contagious and helps you see Italy in a new light. They also encourage you to learn/speak Italian, and helpfully correct along the way. We can’t wait to return and enjoy another “family” dinner and immerse ourselves in rural Tuscany.

The warmest of welcomes and an ideal base to relax and explore the local area. Silvia, Paolo and team are on hand to give helpful tips and advice (they couldn’t have been more helpful for us if they tried) and the property itself and the setting are truly wonderful. We are already planning our return to enjoy cycling, wine and cheese tasting, and hopefully improve our Italian.
