Finalmente una sera ho deciso di fermarmi a fotografarlo e a scoprire la sua storia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È un bel reperto industriale che hanno deciso di lasciare all’interno del parco per conservare la memoria industriale dell’area. Si inserisce bene nell’ambiente, non stona affatto. Sarebbe carino se installassero un cartello per raccontare in breve la storia della fabbrica a cui apparteneva.
It is a beautiful industrial artefact that they have decided to leave inside the park to preserve the industrial memory of the area. It fits well into the environment, it doesn't clash at all. It would be nice if they installed a sign to briefly tell the story of the factory it belonged to.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Torre in cemento armato alta circa 30 metri per un diametro massimo di circa 22, dalla caratteristica sagoma tronco-conica con pareti a parabola studiate per ottimizzarne il rendimento, costruita per la SCAM dal cav. Lallo Torrielli negli anni '50.
La torre raffreddava e trattava l'acqua di raffreddamento di una turbina dello stabilimento Michelin, che veniva pompata in un condensatore per poi ricadere a pioggia tramite un sistema di tubi forati in una sottostante vasca di decantazione, da cui rientrava nei circuiti della turbina, in un ciclo continuo, ottimizzando le risorse idriche e riducendo gli sprechi.
Alla dismissione, e successiva demolizione, dello stabilimento, la torre è entrata a fare parte come reperto di archeologia industriale del Parco Dora area Michelin e ne è diventato una caratteristica riportata anche in loghi e presentazioni.
A differenza della quattro torri gemelle del vicino Parco Dora area Vitali non è stata decorata con murales ma restaurata nel suo aspetto essenziale di manufatto industriale e circondata da un piazzale alberato che ne esalta l'imponenza, e protetta da una cancellata che evita i vandalismi pur lasciandone vedere la struttura della base.
Reinforced concrete tower about 30 meters high for a maximum diameter of about 22, with a characteristic truncated-conical shape with parabolic walls designed to optimize its performance, built for SCAM by cav. Lallo Torrielli in the 1950s.
The tower cooled and treated the cooling water of a turbine of the Michelin plant, which was pumped into a condenser and then rained down through a system of perforated pipes into an underlying settling tank, from which it returned to the turbine circuits, in a continuous cycle, optimizing water resources and reducing waste.
At the disposal and subsequent demolition of the plant, the tower became part of the Dora Park in the Michelin area as an industrial archeology find and has become a feature also reported in logos and presentations.
Unlike the four twin towers of the nearby Parco Dora, the Vitali area was not decorated with murals but restored in its essential aspect of an industrial building and surrounded by a tree-lined square that enhances its grandeur, and protected by a gate that avoids vandalism while letting you see the structure of the base.

It looks like a museum from the neighbor, the photo taken on a cold day, a visit made in passing, but it is very spectacular, in the middle of a park !!!

che sorgevano al posto di questo grande nuovo quartiere residenziale,

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At first I thought it was a nuclear reactor. But maybe it was an installation of earlier period through which perhaps any important work would be done. It is now abandoned. However it has enhanced the beauty of Dora Park.
