La cancellata chiude la piazza antistante il Palazzo e fu costruita alla fine della prima metà dell'Ottocento, in sostituzione di un grande porticato poi distrutto. Castore e Polluce sono i due Dioscuri, gemelli e figli di Zeus secondo molti autori. Il primo era un domatore di cavalli, mentre il secondo si distingueva nel pugilato. Nelle vicende della mitologia greca furono due degli Argonauti che ricercarono il Vello d'oro. Sono considerati i protettori dei naviganti nelle bufere e nelle tempeste marine. La piazzetta divide il bene e il male e da qui partono 12 linee immaginarie che suddividono la città in settori e, ogni settore, appartiene ad un segno zodiacale. Built around 1842.
