β β β β β The basilica is stunningly beautiful. The mosaics are incredible. However, no photography is allowed anywhere inside the Basilica, so we cannot post any interior photos to share. The staff is not very friendly and even though it is publicly posted that the ticket office closes at 5:30, it is actually earlier. And the bell tower was closed when we visited, but it is now open. So that might be a must see. Check it out.

β β β β β The main attraction atm are the two big mosaics. I would recommend looking at the pictures online and then using your time at the church to admire the details.
The staff were quite unfriendly.

β β β β β A wonderful place but let down by those in charge. There are no, and nothing to read of its history. Instead just signs telling you that photos, videos and phones are forbidden. Iβve no idea why photos canβt be taken, there are no postcards or booklets on sale. Nobody seems to care, or want to share this amazing place to visitors.

β β β β β Peaceful little island well worth the visit. It has a few restaurants near the church about 10 minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop. Simply follow the wide brick path along a small canal and you will find your way past the restaurants to the church. There is a 5 Euro fee to enter Santa Maria, but entrance to the older smaller church is free. Built in 639AD it is the oldest church in the Ventian lagoon.

β β β β β Amazing basilica with beautiful mosaics. Truly like stepping back in time and seeing the origins of
Venice. Well worth taking several boats to visit. It is actually not that hard or long so do it and see Murano and Burano as well for an amazing experience.
