★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Among the remains of the complex, there are the remains of the Octagonal Hall, a Roman building of the III century, probably a nymphaeum, with an octagonal base and with round openings for interior lighting. The round and sixth-floor dome was filled with amphorae to lighten its weight.
In the 13th century, a tower was erected, supported by a large cylindrical pillar and on which the stairs leading to various floors were supported.
The tower was used as a watchtower and in 1347 the Colonna troops, coming from Palestrina to Rome to fight against Cola di Rienzo, camped in this area. In 1422 the Colonna bought it.
In 1571 the tower became the property of Vincenzo Rossi dello Schiavo's family and from these took the name of "Tor de 'Schiavi".
