Si trattava di un tempio dedicato a Matidia, suocera dell'imperatore Adriano che, alla sua morte, l'aveva divinizzata. Il nome della via (Vicolo della Spada di Orlando) deriva dalla legenda secondo cui lo squarcio che caratterizza l'enorme pietra di marmo che sporge verso la strada fosse stato creato proprio dalla sua spada, la famosa Durlindana.
Most of the photos and reviews present do not actually refer to this monument, of which only a few stones remain. It was a temple dedicated to Matidia, mother-in-law of the emperor Hadrian who, upon his death, had deified it. The name of the street (Vicolo della Spada di Orlando) derives from the legend according to which the gash that characterizes the huge marble stone that protrudes towards the street was created by his sword, the famous Durlindana.
