Vicolungo ha una sua invidiabile storia, un vero peccato non valorizzarne i contenutenti e le tradizioni. Una mano sul cuore e l'altra nel portafoglio, lo fate per le future generazioni Probably it is the only historical reality of the country that the locals should let them, finance their accommodation and use it for conferences and cultural meetings. La muratura, a ciottoli di fiume disposti a spina di pesce, risale ai secoli XI -XIV. Nonostante alcune demolizioni avvenute alla metà dell’Ottocento, sono ancora ben conservate alcune parti della rocca. It is difficult to trace a certain datation of the oldest part of the castle, as well as to know the original form of the entire complex, as there are no documents prior to the 15th century. The masonry, with river pebbles arranged in a herringbone pattern, dates back to the XI-XIV centuries. Despite some demolitions in the mid-nineteenth century, some parts of the fortress are still well preserved.

Persino la datazione della sua origine è molto difficoltosa, non essendoci pervenuti documenti prima della missiva che Antonio Rabozio, milite vassallo dei Conti di Biandrate e sostenitore degli Sforza, scrisse a questi ultimi nel 1480 prima di morire, per assicurare alle figlie il futuro possesso del castello e dell'intero feudo. Fu proprio il Rabozio a far costruire, fra il 1453 e il 1464, la bella rocca quadrangolare di difesa, che oggi costituisce l'elemento più scenografico del complesso fortificato, con finestre ogivali, barbacani e caditoie perfettamente conservati. Le restanti parti del fortilizio, più deteriorate, vengono datate in un lunghissimo arco temporale: si va dalla muratura ad ovest del XIII Secolo alla casa padronale del XIX Secolo. The history of the Vicolungo castle is as complex as its structure. Even the dating of its origin is very difficult, since there were no documents before the letter that Antonio Rabozio, a vassal soldier of the Counts of Biandrate and supporter of the Sforza, wrote to the latter in 1480 before dying, to ensure his daughters future possession of the castle and the entire fiefdom. Il muro è ciò che resta del primitivo "castrum" costruito nel 1100 dai "milites" di Vicolungo: più che un castello signorile era, quindi, un ricetto. La torretta ha una datazione incerta: forse è di fine 1500. La rocca in mattoni è davvero bella con l'esile vedetta sopra il tetto che la rende ancora più originale ma molti edifici adiacenti (di valore storico ed artistico) sembrano in sfacelo trasformati da secoli in deposito agricolo. The brick fortress is really nice with the slender lookout on the roof that makes it even more original but many adjacent buildings (historical and artistic value) seem berserk transformed for centuries in agricultural storage.
