Dama on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ero rimasto che si chiamava chiesa della Madonna...ma pochi mesi fa l'hanno ribattezzata,chiesa in ogni caso molto bella e ben tenuta da non perdere se si visita la città aleramica capitale del Monferrato, pregevoli le opere di Mancini,quotato artista moncalvese. R	Roberto Gerbi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dal 2016 la chiesa della Madonna delle Grazie è divenuta Santuario Diocesano Santa Teresa di Calcutta (personaggio peraltro totalmente estraneo alla tradizione locale); alla santa, della quale è presente la statua e una reliquia, è stato dedicato il primo altare di sinistra. L'edificio è l’unica opera del conte Magnocavalli a essere stata completata secondo il progetto (1756-58). Costruita sull’area di una precedente chiesa sede della confraternita di San Michele, già esistente nel sec. XV, abbattuta per vetustà, conservando però il campanile del 1619. Altro elemento conservato dell’antica chiesa è un crocifisso scolpito a rilievo nella pietra, murato sul fronte esterno occidentale. La chiesa fu aperta al pubblico nel 1758. Nell’abside sono sistemate alcune tele: al centro San Michele e il drago, di Vitaliano Grassi (ca. 1760); la tela ha una piccola apertura quadrata incorniciata, predisposta per lasciar vedere una Madonna col Bambino, frammento d’affresco su arenaria del sec. XV molto ridipinto, proveniente dalla chiesa di Santa Maria di Piazza. Since 2016 the church of the Madonna delle Grazie has become the Diocesan Sanctuary of Santa Teresa di Calcutta (a character totally extraneous to the local tradition); the first altar on the left was dedicated to the saint, of whom there is a statue and a relic. The building is the only work of Count Magnocavalli to have been completed according to the plan (1756-58). Built on the area of a previous church which houses the brotherhood of San Michele, already existing in the century. XV, demolished for age, while retaining the bell tower of 1619. Another preserved element of the ancient church is a crucifix carved in relief in stone, walled on the western external front. The church was opened to the public in 1758. In the apse there are some paintings: in the center San Michele and the dragon, by Vitaliano Grassi (ca. 1760); the canvas has a small framed square opening, designed to let you see a Madonna and Child, a fresco fragment on sandstone of the century. XV very repainted, coming from the church of Santa Maria di Piazza.

Vi ci si giunge, imboccando una viuzza della piazza Centrale, dove ad attendere il turista, uno scorcio pittoresco di Moncalvo, dove in un edificio del 300', opera di Magnicavallo, troviamo questa bella Chiesetta, intitolata recentemente alla straordinaria suora albanese. Bello l'interno, suggestivi i canti gregoriani spesso utilizzati come sottofondo musicale, unica la serenità del luogo.
