La costruzione dell'imponente chiesa è riferibile al primo Trecento ed appartiene senza dubbio allo stile gotico. La facciata è divisa in due parti da una lista di pietra: quella inferiore è aperta da un portale cuspidato con pinnacoli laterali e cornice decorata a fogliette stilizzate; quella superiore appare frutto di restauro, con l'inserimento di un grande occhio con rosone. L'interno ripete il consueto schema conventuale, con un'ampia navata conclusa da una cappella quadrangolare con volta a crociera. A sinistra i locali monastici si raccolgono intorno ai due chiostri cinquecenteschi. Le pareti della chiesa sono state affrescate da vari artisti senesi del XIV e del XV secolo, con Scene della Passione di Cristo e Storie della vita di Sant'Antonio Abate. Gli affreschi trecenteschi del coro con Storie di Sant'Agostino, Evangelisti e Dottori della Chiesa sono attribuiti a Bartolo di Fredi. Purtroppo nel 2013 era chiusa la chiesa. The church of Sant'Agostino is a sacred building located along the central course of Montalcino. The construction of the imposing church dates back to the early fourteenth century and undoubtedly belongs to the Gothic style. The façade is divided into two parts by a stone strip: the lower one is opened by a cusped portal with lateral pinnacles and a frame decorated with stylized leaves; the upper one appears to be the result of restoration, with the addition of a large eye with a rose window. The interior repeats the usual conventual scheme, with a wide nave ending in a quadrangular chapel with a cross vault. On the left, the monastic rooms are gathered around the two sixteenth-century cloisters. The walls of the church were frescoed by various Sienese artists of the 14th and 15th centuries, with Scenes from the Passion of Christ and Stories from the life of Sant'Antonio Abate. The fourteenth-century frescoes of the choir with Stories of St. Augustine, Evangelists and Doctors of the Church are attributed to Bartolo di Fredi. Unfortunately in 2013 the church was closed.
