Un esterno molto semplice in mattoni rossi, ed un interno più decorato, senza essere però pesante. A very ancient sanctuary, dedicated to an apparition of the Madonna on the adjacent hill. A very simple exterior in red brick, and a more decorated interior, without being heavy though.

G	GIORGIO CERUTTI on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Si ignora l'epoca di fondazione della chiesa, già "di San Pietro", in cui nel 1603 venne eretta la Confraternita del Santissimo Rosario per opera del padre Benedetto da Milano dell'Ordine dei Predicatori. Il campanile è antico, forse assegnabile al XIII secolo. La chiesa è stata restaurata nel XVIII secolo e presenta una facciata incompleta. Nel 1830 fu ampliata la sacrestia e nel 1831 venne costruito l'organo. Nel 1860 la chiesa fu ampliata con l'aggiunta di due navate e nel 1863, nella navata settentrionale, fu eretto il nuovo altare in marmo in onore di Santa Cristina. Tale altare è sovrastato dalla pala di Andrea Lanzani (1641-1712) raffigurante il Martirio della Santa. Sopra l'altare maggiore si trova il dipinto della Vergine proveniente da un'antica cappelletta. A lato dell'altare maggiore, due grandi dipinti del Novecento, eseguiti da un artista originario di Varallo Pombia, raffigurano il Miracolo della giovinetta che riacquistò l'udito e la parola davanti all'immagine mariana e la Madonna del Rosario con Santi e committenti in abiti rinascimentali, con i quindici tondi dei Misteri del Rosario. We ignore the time of foundation of the church, formerly "of San Pietro", in which in 1603 the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary was erected by the work of Father Benedetto da Milano of the Order of Preachers. The bell tower is ancient, perhaps attributable to the thirteenth century. The church was restored in the 18th century and has an incomplete facade. In 1830 the sacristy was enlarged and in 1831 the organ was built. In 1860 the church was enlarged with the addition of two naves and in 1863, in the northern nave, the new marble altar was erected in honor of Santa Cristina. This altar is dominated by the altarpiece by Andrea Lanzani (1641-1712) depicting the martyrdom of the saint. Above the main altar there is the painting of the Virgin from an ancient chapel. On the side of the high altar, two large paintings of the twentieth century, made by an artist from Varallo Pombia, depict the Miracle of the young girl who regained her hearing and speech before the Marian image and the Madonna of the Rosary with Saints and patrons in Renaissance clothes, with the fifteen rounds of the Mysteries of the Rosary.

A testimonianza dell'edifico romanico resta soltanto il campanile, poiché il santuario così come lo si ammira oggi è il frutto di una serie di radicali ricostruzioni operate fra il 1603, anno in cui venne fondata la Confraternita del Santissimo Rosario, e il 1860, quando furono aggiunte due navate. Fa certamente effetto la sua insolita facciata incompiuta, a metà strada fra barocco e gotico, di grande ampiezza e caratterizzata da una profusione di lesene e nicchie per santi. Il bel rosso del mattone, lasciato a vista, aggiunge fascino all'edificio. Before assuming its present name, the church was dedicated to San Pietro. It is not known when it was founded, probably around the thirteenth century. As evidence of the Romanesque building, only the bell tower remains, since the sanctuary as we admire it today is the result of a series of radical reconstructions made between 1603, the year in which the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary was founded, and 1860, when two naves were added. Certainly its unusual unfinished facade, halfway between Baroque and Gothic, is certainly impressive, characterized by a profusion of pilasters and niches for saints. The beautiful red of the brick, left exposed, adds charm to the building.

In quegli anni tutta la chiesa era comunque un cantiere per ristrutturare un'antica chiesa romanica dedicata a San Pietro. Il nuovo edificio fu ancora ampliato nel 1800 con l'aggiunta di due navate. Sono degni di nota la facciata a capanna e il campanile (residuo della vecchia chiesa del 1200) che ebbe anche funzioni di torre di vedetta. Nell'interno (molto curato) è preziosa una tela del Lanzani con il martirio di santa Cristina. The heart of the sanctuary is the miraculous fresco of the "Madonna on the throne" transferred here in 1610 from a votive pillar that stood nearby. In those years the whole church was still a construction site to renovate an ancient Romanesque church dedicated to St. Peter. The new building was extended again in 1800 with the addition of two naves. The gabled façade and the bell tower (remnant of the old church of 1200) which also served as a lookout tower are noteworthy. Inside (very well-kept) there is a precious canvas by Lanzani with the martyrdom of Santa Cristina.
