R	Roberto De Filippo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Da tempo mi ero ripromesso una visita in questo luogo: area archeologica e museo avevano attirato la mia attenzione ed ero molto curioso di poter compiere la visita di Palestrina, l'antica Preneste. La visita del museo, davvero ben tenuto, riconcilia con la Storia e le numerose schede didattiche rendono piacevolissimo il tempo ivi trascorso (un'oretta buona, per visitare tutto con molta calma, leggendo le varie presentazioni di sala ed ammirando i singoli pezzi, apprezzandone l'originalità e la splendida conservazione. Gentilissimo il personale del museo, attento al rispetto delle normative anti covid; non è insolito che qualcuno, per pura passione, si proponga a fare da guida, senza nulla pretendere. E questo è un ulteriore valore aggiunto. L'ingresso al museo ed all'area archeologica è gratuito per gli insegnanti di ogni ordine e grado, purché in possesso della prevista attestazione firmata dal Dirigente scolastico. I ragazzi fino ai 25 anni pagano solo 2 euro. Cinque euro il costo del biglietto per tutti gli altri. Visita molto consigliata (vale un viaggio, anche solo per vedere il grande mosaico delle sorgenti del Nilo). For some time I had promised myself a visit to this place: the archaeological area and museum had attracted my attention and I was very curious to be able to visit Palestrina, the ancient Preneste. The visit to the museum, really well kept, reconciles with history and the numerous didactic cards make the time spent there very pleasant (a good hour, to visit everything very calmly, reading the various presentations in the room and admiring the individual pieces, appreciating them the originality and the splendid conservation. Dear museum staff, attentive to compliance with anti-covid regulations; it is not unusual that someone, out of pure passion, proposes to act as a guide, without expecting anything. And this is a further added value . The entrance to the museum and the archaeological area is free for teachers of all levels, as long as they have the required certificate signed by the Headmaster. Children up to 25 years pay only 2 euros. Five euros the cost of the ticket for all the others.Visit highly recommended (it is worth a trip, even if only to see the great mosaic of the sources of the Nile).

S	Sophia M on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Museo molto bello poco fuori Roma. Peccato che sia poco valorizzato !mancano spiegazioni sulle varie zone e quelle delle opere sono poco esaustive in alcuni casi. Per quanto riguarda la composizione dello stesso consiste in un' area esterna e una interna, il complesso infatti ha mantenuto la struttura e la composizione originaria del maestoso tempio della dea Fortuna Primigenia di epoca romana (II secolo se non sbaglio). L'area " interna " era la parte alta del santuario trasformato in un palazzo signorile prima dalla famiglia dei Colonna poi nel 1600 dai Barberini, i manufatti nel museo sono al 99% di epoca romana e provengono dalle zone limitrofe e da Palestrina stessa. Il pezzo forte è sicuramente il mosaico del Nilo che sta a ricordare gli stretti rapporti tra l'antica Praeneste e l'Egitto, i quali sono stati riscontrati anche tra la figura della dea fortuna e la dea egizia Iside. Very nice museum just outside Rome. Too bad that it is not much appreciated! There is a lack of explanations on the various areas and those of the works are not very exhaustive in some cases. As for the composition of the same, it consists of an external and an internal area, in fact the complex has maintained the original structure and composition of the majestic temple of the goddess Fortuna Primigenia from the Roman era (2nd century if I'm not mistaken). The "internal" area was the upper part of the sanctuary transformed into a stately palace first by the Colonna family and then in 1600 by the Barberinis. The artefacts in the museum are 99% of the Roman era and come from the surrounding areas and from Palestrina itself. The highlight is certainly the mosaic of the Nile which is a reminder of the close relations between ancient Praeneste and Egypt, which were also found between the figure of the goddess fortune and the Egyptian goddess Isis.

Costruito alla fine del II secolo A.C. è dedicato alla dea Fortuna della città di Praeneste (oggi Palestrina), si articola su sei terrazze artificiali collegate tra loro da rampe e scalinate di accesso. Stupendo per la sua particolare posizione, si può ammirare tutta la sottostante vallata. Interessante anche il museo all'interno del palazzo Barberini. Consigliato The Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia is located in the upper part of Palestrina about 40 km from Rome. Built in the late 2nd century BC. it is dedicated to the goddess Fortuna of the city of Praeneste (today Palestrina), it is divided into six artificial terraces connected to each other by access ramps and stairways. Superb for its particular position, you can admire the whole valley below. The museum inside the Barberini palace is also interesting. Advised

Sylvia Simpson Pres. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have studied this amazing sanctuary for the liturgy of Temple of Fortuna dot com, and studied it as part of the curriculum of Roman Architecture Course at Yale, given by Diana Klein through Coursera, and now it is appearing on Google Earth! This is the next best thing to actually being there ... hopefully someone who actually has been there will post a review soon. Five stars for an amazing Goddess and an amazing piece of ancient architecture :D
