Amazing place, look up at the roof, amazing paintings, must be seen to appreciate. Free entry, ignore the beggar at the entrance. One of the best churches to visit in Rome

Absolutely stunning church. Also i was luck to visit here when there was a concerto taking place, such a beautiful sound from the choir echoing through the building. Loved my visit to this church.

The church was consecrated in 1177 by Pope Alexander III shortly after his reconciliation with Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Nice church to visit. It returns back your tranquility after the outside crowded Venice. A good time to see the nice works inside like the Resurrection and Transfiguration by Francesco Vecellio.

Beautiful church in the centre of Venezia. Open to everyone fairly lasted into the evening. Even for a small church some of the internal architecture is beautiful. Go there and light a candle and just absorb the solemnity and the ambience.

Beautiful! This church is well maintained and is very beautiful. The architecture is interesting and there are lots of details. The colors are harmonized with the decoration; there are parts in red that give to the church a great aspect. It's wonderful! I recommend the visitation of this church.

A large church dedicated to San Salvador (Jesus the Savior) stands in the historic center of Venice on the site of one of the most densely populated areas of the city. The first foundation dates back to the 7th century and has legendary origins, Jesus Christ appeared in a dream to Bishop San Magno to show him the place - in the center of a still Byzantine Venice - where he should have built a church to be dedicated to himself, the Savior of the world. This magnificent church is located on the Campo San Salvador, along the Merceria, the main shopping street of Venice. There is a special good energy and all the necessary peace in the church. With its grandeur, the beauty and beautiful pictures right away we were delighted. The church was first consecrated in 1177 by Pope Alexander III shortly after his reconciliation with Emperor Frederick Barbarossa at nearby San Marco. The present church, however, was begun in around 1508 by Giorgio Spavento and continued after his death the following year by Tullio Lombardo, Vincenzo Scamozzi and possibly Jacopo Sansovino. They built a large hall church, formed from three Greek crosses placed end to end. Each has a dome with a lantern to let light into the cavernous interior. The facade was added in 1663 by Giuseppe Sardi. Monumental and significant works decorate the interior of the church. We were delighted with the painting " Cena in Emmaus" ("Supper at Emmaus") by Giovanni Bellini and the inevitable painting "Annunciazione del Signore" (1560-65) masterpiece by Tiziano. Other masterpieces of great masters that we can enjoy are "Resurrection", "Transfiguration" by master Francesco Vecellio and "Savior" by master Giulio del Moro. The church is further marked by Funerary monuments of famous Venetians, among whom are Doge Gerolamo Priuli, Doge Lorenzo Priuli, Caterina Cornaro (d.1510) (Queen of Cyprus), Doge Francesco Venier (d.1556).
