★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional...do not miss. So we wandered in at 8pm having got used to being sole diners in our week at the end of October in Umbria. Miriam? and Antonio greeted us and assured as that they could find a table for us (the place was completely empty...) but by 8.45 it was heaving. And deservedly so.
The family had just completed their first ever olive harvest and the delight with which they shared their 30-minute old olive oil said it all. This was followed by cheese produced from their animals with home baked bread, delicious pates and outstanding salumi, an impossibly large bowl of hand-rolled pici for me and a wild mushroom crepe for the vegetarian, an incredibly fine tagliata for me and a mix of vegetable dishes for her, and an exceptional creme brulee to share to finish washed down with some great, fruity house red.
This is Umbrian home cooking at its best - gregarious, generous and fun - in a beautiful setting. Do not miss - at 30 euro a head this was also exceptional value.
