A	Alessio Fauni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un vero peccato che parte di queste strutture siano state demolite per permettere l'ampliamento della viabilità; quello che resta è comunque molto interessante da vedere, anche se si tratta solo di un rifacimento in stile egizio risalente alla prima metà dell'Ottocento, ad opera dell'architetto dell'epoca Luigi Canina; rimane un bellissimo esempio di architettura. In questa grande villa non manca nulla è persino presente questa bella ricostruzione che richiama i fasti egizi, si tratta di una entrata monumentale, dove sono posti ai lati due obelischi e dei leoni (il tutto edificato nella prima metà dell’ottocento), aveva lo scopo di collegare la parte antica della villa con quella nuova. Purtroppo l'effetto originario è possibile solo immaginarlo, poiché, per allargare la sede stradale, nel 1938, la composizione è stata parzialmente demolita. The Egyptian Propylaea are located in the District III (Pinciano) in Villa Borghese, in Viale Fiorello La Guardia near the Carlo Bilotti Museum (the former Villa Borghese Orangery). Già non è dato sapere come fossero prima della loro parziale destrutturazione (in Egitto hanno spostato tutto il meraviglioso complesso di habu Simbel e noi non possiamo spostare due pietre?)....ma sono completamente abbandonati al degrado e poco più di un orinatoio a cielo aperto. Risalenti al 1800 dovevano ricreare atmosfere e fasti dell'antico Egitto ...i propilei sono appunto i vestiboli posti dinanzi ai tempi che ne costituiscono dei porticati o dei colonnati di ingresso. Due sfingi e due obelischi avrebbero dovuto segnare la separazione tra parte più moderna e parte più antica della Villa ora invece solo poco più di uno spartitraffico e simili a pensiline per le fermate del bus.
