=> PORTA SAN GALLO: It was one of the gates of the city with the most traffic, being more to the north, connected with the road to Bologna. On the door, whose keys are still preserved in the Florence Museum as it stood, an inscription commemorates the opening of the door in 1285 on the initiative of Captain Guelph of the Rolandino party of Canossa, while another later celebrates the passing of King Federico IV of Denmark, who in 1708 was the protagonist of an embarrassing episode in the city. Outside, the door is decorated by two Marzocchi, or lions from Parte Guelfa, in stone, while in the inner telescope it preserves traces of a fresco with Madonna and the saints. Immediately outside the gate was the San Gallo convent complex, designed by Giuliano Giamberti, who removed the nickname "da Sangallo" from the much-praised building. It was destroyed, along with many others, to enable weapons to be placed on the walls in anticipation of the Siege of Florence.

Historic city gate which is not very glamorous. It can only be viewed from the outside. Unfortunately, no city walls have survived in this place.

Nice space. There's an arch just next to it. Is a good testing spot. There's benches n trees.

Very old, stone gate. With some lion statues on it. At the outskirts of the main touristy area of Florence. This would get 5 stars if there wasn’t so much trash around the park. And shady people sitting on the benches. Still, cool spot. Not a bad place to kill 10-15 minutes.

A good piazza, the view in raining time is perfect. Very artistic
