★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sabbioneta, la "cite idéale" période renaissance, classée Unesco, vaut la peine que l'on s'y arrête. Petite, planifiée en échiquier, elle est une création de Vespasien Gonzague et en tant que tel on y trouve de magnifiques bijoux architecturaux dans un environnement très simple. Bien qu'unesco, ce site ne semble pas souffrir d'une sur-population touristique (en tout cas pas fin avril).
Sabbioneta, the "ideal city" from the Renaissance period, listed as Unesco, is worth a stop. Small, planned in a chessboard, it is a creation of Vespasian Gonzaga and as such there are magnificent architectural jewels in a very simple environment. Although unesco, this site does not seem to suffer from tourist overcrowding (at least not at the end of April).

Porta Imperiale, built in 1579, is dedicated to Emperor Rudolph II Habsburg, as is recalled by the inscription above the main entrance, which states: "Vespasian, by the grace of God, Duke of Sabbioneta, decorated this gate with an imperial name in the year of salvation 1579".
