It is one of the most picturesque entrances to the historic center of Pontremoli, famous for the legend of the werewolf on which it passed on full moon nights, if you pass by do not miss it, near a large free parking lot.

A chiudere l’ingresso al borgo una grande porta custodita da un’insolita guardiola laterale, sormontata da beccatelli. Il ponte non è più originale ma è stato ricostruito più e più volte a causa dei danni subiti dagli alluvioni e dagli assedi di guerra. Ponte Romano and one of the five entrances to the fortified village. A large door guarded by an unusual side guardhouse, surmounted by corbels, closes the entrance to the village. The bridge is no longer original but has been rebuilt over and over again due to the damage suffered by floods and war sieges.

Fu edificato nei pressi della della porta della Betulla, uno dei cinque accessi al borgo fortificato. La sua costruzione risale al 1219, come l’omonimo ponte di sotto. La sua struttura anticamente era in legno, su pile in muratura, venne fatto con archi in muratura dopo il 1391. Subendo molte fenomeni alluvionali negli anni 1567 / 1569 il ponte venne ricostruito su quello precedente. Un interessante struttura e testimonianza storica, molto bello! The Roman bridge of Cresa with its arches is beautiful. It was built near the Porta della Betulla, one of the five entrances to the fortified village. Its construction dates back to 1219, like the bridge of the same name below. Its structure was in ancient times in wood, on masonry piles, it was made with masonry arches after 1391.
