The bridge admits to Campo Manin coming from the street of the same name and is located in a beautiful area of frequent passage, animated by bars, cafes, shops and other commercial activities. His name would refer to the presence of an Osteria de la Cortesia which the chronicles of the "Minerva Veneta pell'anno 1785" report as one of the best in Venice.

Ponte della Cortesia is in the San Marco district, between Calle della Cortesia and Campo Manin. It bridges the Rio de San Luca canal. It is a beautiful stone bridge, its structure is made of brick and stone, iron fence with lozenges and circles, supported by pillars of Istrian stone. On two sides of the bridge, in the center of the arch, is one a nineteenth-century coat of arms with a child or Fauno (ancient Italic divinity), and two marble slabs with the inscription, "DO. MDCCCXLIII" and "AERE CIVICO". It is named after the adjacent Calle Street, which is a natural extension of Calle della Mandola, after the backfilling Rio degli Assassini that divided the two pedestrian streets. In that place, in the ancient district of Sant’Angelo in San Paterniano, there was in 1712 a famous inn with a restaurant and rooms run by Franco Benoni. Among all these rooms was the Cortesia (Courtesy) room rented for the noble gentlemen Zorzi and Morosini. Even the newspaper Minerva Veneta for the year 1785 points to the inn as a sign of Courtesy as one of the best in Venice. At the foot of the bridge in the calle is the entrance to the house of Daniele Manin, the great Venetian patriot to whom the monument in the homonymous square was dedicated.
